Hi all, I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and wondering what you all typically eat/exercise in a day? I am constantly hungry so I am always eating but not always the right thing. I am struggling with my diet and I feel like I'm already putting on weight - I'm not doing much exercise other than walking my dogs - they have long walks every other day and I was wondering what light exercise I could do to try and help keep my weight down as I'm worried about piling on the pounds. I was a size 8 before I became pregnant and although I haven't put on much yet I can see my muscles not being so toned and more flabby. Any tips would be great thanks Smile

I eat just as I normally did before, but with an extra 2 slices of toast in the morning, and snacking on fruit and yoghurt in between meals (although if I'm honest, sometimes I'm snacking on waffles with chocolate sauce, or a cheese sandwich, or an ice lolly...)

As for exercise, I never used to exercise before at all, but started doing pregnancy pilates when my back started to hurt around 20 weeks. And I also started doing some pregnancy cardio workouts too. There's loads of videos on youtube you can follow, so I just do around 30 mins at home probably around 3 or 4 times a week.

As for weight gain... it's a struggle to deal with your changing body, and even though I'm eating healthy enough and exercising, my weight is still increasing. I tell myself I won't weigh myself again... but I find myself stepping on to the scales daily and feeling down when I see the number going up everyday. I guess we just have to accept it's normal, it's going to happen, and it's good for baby.

In my first 12 weeks I tried not to eat additional calories to normal but did spread them out more throughout the day. Nhs advice is currently to keep calorie intake the same until third trimester...easier said than done! Luckily I found that I really wanted fruit because it didn't have a strong smell. To stay fuller, I try to make sure I have extra protein.

I have kept an eye on my weight and looked up what I should expect to gain so I haven't found the shock of the scales going up too bad. I wanted to know what was a healthy weight gain and what was due to overeating. Saying that, I don't deny myself anything, but I am less likely to choose something unhealthy if I am already full.
