Antenatal classes

Hi just a general wonder

My antenatal classes will be coming up in the next few weeks and can't decide weather to go or not, pregnant with my second baby, so pretty clued up on how to care for a baby. But my last labour was very fast and pretty out of control , so my breathing and ect wasn't great, well let's say I didn't cope well and didn't really had a clue what I was doing, midwife could also tell I never went to any classes and was getting abit annoyed I wasn't breathing properly 🙄 but anyway, is it worth going to nhs antenatal for this or worth just maybe sitting and practicing breathing myself, or perhaps find a hypnobirth class instead, Tia x

My NHS antenatal classes were in 3 parts. One session was on birth as far as I remember. If yours is the same I'd maybe just go to that class and miss out on the baby care ones.

Alternatively you could look at the Positive Birth Company videos on YouTube. I'm a STM as well and the birth with my first sounds similar to yours so I'm trying to prepare myself a bit more for this one. I've been doing the PBC online course but I think you can get tutorials on the breathing techniques on YouTube for free.

My sister had exactly the same thing! Her birth was totally out of control because it was 3 hours from start to finish! (Not sure if that's a good thing or not?!) she ended up doing a private one to one session, although most of them are pretty expensive... I went to one my friends went to... they do one to ones and they're website says they tailor make the class to whatever suits you? Their names are better births Antenatal Classes. Good luck for your birth! Xx

I honestly didn't find the nhs ones useful at all, but perhaps it depends on your area etc? I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, I have short labours too both of mine were 1.5hrs start to finish and super intense, but breathing techniques from yoga/pilates really helped me in both and I was fine.
I have only heard good things about this positive birth company but dont have any personal experience there. I just put on some music, normally classical or nature sounds and really focus on my breathing. I'm 38 weeks with number 3 and planning on using my breathig techniques again. I hope you find something that works for you and you have a happy healthy delivery 😘

Thanks ladies for getting back, I had a feeling nhs ones would probably be no good so I won't bother and maybe try out some other ones, I'm 31 weeks my last baby came at 38, I went from 3-10cm in a hour so I totally lost all control of myself so hoping this time will be abit better, good luck with your births ❤️

@mummytogirl my last labour was also 3-10 in an hour, it's really intense so I can totally sympathise with you there. Best of luck!
