Pregnancy after cervical laser treatment

Hey, just looking for some advice, other mums experiences during pregnancy after abnormal cells on the cervix and laser treatment to remove them!

I had my treatment 4 months ago and recently found out I’m now pregnant! I’m just a little worried as it’s been said now the cervix is not as strong as it used to be you can have prem babies, low birth weight, complications.

Has anyone had this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby? Did the hospital monitor you closely ?

Thank you x

I had this 6 month's before falling pregnant. Tell your midwife at your booking appt and they can refer you to a consultant. You can have a scan of your cervix to check length. I was discharged straight away back to midwife care and the laser treatment didn't have any negative effect on my pregnancy. I still went to 41+weeks.
I did go back to have a colposcopy 3 month after birth for them to check again.

I've also had this, after dc1 but before dc2. As pp said I had cervical length checked at 12 weeks and mine was found to be on the shorter side so was monitored fortnightly, as this can be an indicator for premature labour. A cervical stitch was discussed but decided against (there are pros and cons associated with this). I ended up going to 39 weeks when labour started spontaneously. I'm now pg with dc3 and being monitored again, but more relaxed this time knowing I went full term with dc2.

Thank you that’s made me feel a bit better, I had a phone call today from my drs wanting to see me next week and I’m thinking this is what they want to discuss with me, I have really bad anxiety atm just hoping everything goes okay during this pregnancy x

Hi, I’m in the same boat!
Had a lletz for cin3 in July, but later told biopsy result was cin2...so they probably removed more then was necessary, but oh well!
I had follow up after 6 month and got the all clear for 3 years, and luckily got pregnant that month!
At my booking appt the midwife has referred me for a cervical scan, I’m nearly 14 weeks now so don’t feel as delicate down there and not too worried about it.
Midwife said worst case I’d need medication to keep my cervix long/ hard (?!?) and could need a stitch during labour.
Best case scenario I may not need anything so will try to think positive.
I had a friend who had 1 lletz shortly before pregnancy, and everything was fine/ normal for her. Also had friend who has had 3 lletz’s over 14 year period and she did need a stitch but said it wasn’t as awful as it might sound!

My best friend is midwife and said they sometimes have ladies who struggle to dialate after a lletz, but this is a rarity.

Try not to worry, I know that’s little help when you’re anxious, I had a mc last year and am so grateful to have got this far in pregnancy I will deal with whatever my cervix throws at me as long as the baby is healthy.
My midwife said to me to remember how quickly your cervix heals after birth- in comparison a lletz is a small trauma!! You’ll be more then 1 year after treatment when your baby arrives, which is long window of time to heal from lletz.

Thanks you so much for taking the time to reply and tell me all this, it has really made me feel so much better, I’m glad I’m not alone. I’m only 5 weeks so very early on just hoping everything goes as well as my previous pregnancies! I wish you well and happy healthy pregnancy and baby xx
