How to stop sleeping on back?

Hi

I’ve noticed a few times in the last week or so that if I lie on my back my blood pressure drops and I begin to feel faint. Once when this happened I was in hospital the baby was being monitored and his heart rate began drpopping.

I find that I toss and turn a lot at night and sometimes wake up on my back. Is there anything I can do to avoid this happening?

Prop yourself in place with pillows. I've got a Dreamgenii one (cheap off eBay) that goes down my back and between my legs (to align hips) and under the bump. I wodge other pillows around that; IMPOSSIBLE to roll over. Does make it tricky to get up for a wee but small price to pay.

I have a dreamgenii as well but any pillow like that would do, throw your leg over it and it gets easier. My partner will also give me a nudge if I sometimes roll onto my back but as you get bigger it gets harder to sleep on back anyway.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure if the back support part of the dreamgenii would prevent me from rolling onto my back so that’s good to know

I have one of those massive u-shaped pillows that goes almost down to my knees on both sides. I feel enveloped and even if I go to roll onto my back, I can only roll back to about a 60 degree angle - never fully flat.

How pregnant are you? I am 37 weeks and I couldn’t sleep on my back it would be too uncomfortable. Ie maybe in due course it won’t be an issue if you’re less pregnant than that. When I’m not pregnant I always sleep on my back.

Otherwise I agree with what others say-
Prop up by pillows. Someone gave me a dream genie - I don’t rate it at all, but I do rate two other pillows I have - a huge “dorma” one and a small wedge of cheese type one from mothercare.

I’m 35 weeks now.

Looking at the u shaped pillows I was wondering how you don’t end up just falling between the middle and lying on your back especially if the pillows are soft? Wondering whether I should get a firm one (if it exists) so that it feels uncomfortable if I do roll over?

Maybe get the cheese wedge one and put it under your back? They’re only £10 or so from mothercare.
