Horrible hip pain

I'm 28+2 and for the past few weeks have had quite bad pain in my pubic bone that makes it hard to roll over in bed, and is painful when I stand up from sitting, or walk too far. But the last couple of days I've also developed a new pain, sort of in the outer side of my right buttock, that spreads down my leg to about mid thigh. This is agonising while walking, and if I ever stop and stand still it reduces a bit, but when I then walk again, the first few steps it really feels like my right hip/leg wont support the weight and might just collapse under me. It hasn't done this (yet!) and that feeling does subside after a few steps, but its still so painful to walk.

I have my 28 week midwife appointment on Friday, so I will talk to her about it then, but I'm a bit worried she'll just say something along the lines of it being normal, pregnancy causes pain, just have to deal with it etc. I weighed less than 100lbs when I got pregnant (and am 5'4) and previously she's mentioned that because I'm small I can expect more problems like this (although nothing I've read suggests that that's true) so I'm not sure she'll take it that seriously.

So does anyone have any tips? I already sleep with a pregnancy pillow between my legs but I don't know how much its actually helping as I've had it for weeks now so don't know how bad I'd be without it.

It's probably SPD. I got physio, spiky ball, belt and most effective, I stopped walking anywhere if I could avoid it. I'm on crutches now.

I was at a prenatal event yesterday and a chiropractor was discussing this very thing.
It is common, but there is quite a lot you can do to help.
She advised massaging the areas at the side of the hip, along the bone, this reduces inflammation. Also ice packs on the area before bed. I think it's important not to overwork the area.
If you can, see a chiropractor who specialises in pregnancy, an osteopath, or a physio. I'm sure they could help.

Sounds like sciatica to me!
