Abnormality after medically managed MMC?

Has anyone else experienced this? I have had 3 scans since my medically managed mmc 12 weeks ago and on each one the gyne has said she can see something which could be tissue from the pregnancy but probably isn't. But she is not suggesting surgery for now, just to wait and see if it passes. So frustrating.

Hi,
I am currently going through a miscarriage. I passed the foetus on Thursday in hospital. I was scanned the day after and told it was a complete miscarriage and nothing was left in there. I have bled since which I knew would happen and have been taking codiene for the pain. Yesterday I passed some ‘tissue’ that was 1.5 by 1 inch... made up of blood clot and creamy coloured tissue. Just now I lost about 200 mls of blood on toilet and have been having smaller cream coloured tissue like substance. I phoned our day case unti and spoke to the sister who saw me Friday. She said the scan showed nothing was left and that what I am seeing is womb lining which is normal apparently. My womb was still 11mm thick on the scan when it should be around 4 mm thick. So she thinks the likely explanation is that it is this and nothing to worry about. I know nothing about this area and guess I will have to trust they are correct.

Sorry to hear this, confused38. It is an awful experience to go through emotionally and the physical side added to that seems too cruel. At least it sounds like your womb is clear. Mine has a 4mm unidentified object in it :(

OP have you had HCG levels checked? Have you had periods since? It sounds very upsetting for you.

I am back to having periods and testing negative for hcg. But the 'thing' is still there. The gyne hopes it was a clot that would move out with my period but it hasn't. At first she said it should be ok to start trying again but then changed her mind and said to wait as it could provoke another miscarriage. Going to get a second opinion.

Did your medical team suggest that it might be a polyp or something? It doesn’t sound like they’re particularly concerned at this stage, but of course you’re worried. Keep returning to the GP and don’t be afraid to request a second opinion if you don’t get answers. This is potentially your fertility you are worrying about, and you should come away feeling satisfied that your team have done everything to reassure you. I’m not bashing the NHS, I’m really not. I’m just quite passionate that the individual is holistically managed.

Thank you, Sessy. I am lucky enough to be covered privately through my work and they have agreed to send me to a different gyne now. Just want the process to be over....
