BFN at Docs but BFP at home!?

I’ve had three BFPs at home yet I went to the doctors Friday and his test came back negative. I’m 6 days late and having a lot of pregnancy symptoms
Has anyone had this?

Was it a blood test or POAS? If it was a urine test the ones the doctors tend to have are not as sensitive as the ones you can buy and use yourself at home. It’s one of the reasons why doctors don’t tend to carry out a test these days and generally take your word for it. I would be inclined to believe the 3 BFP’s you got at home.

Yeah it was just the poas test. I also heard they’re not very good. I used first response at home so I’m pretty certain I’m pregnant.

They won't even test at our GP as they say the home tests are just as accurate - here you don't see any medical professionals until booking-in appointment with the midwife at 10 weeks. So yes, trust your home BFPs!

Went to my doctor with my FMU sample in pocket and he refused to test it and sent me for bloods. He said it could easily be a negative so I went and bought a clear blue digital and it confirmed 2-3 weeks pregnant. My doctor is an idiot. Always hated him.

Why does the doctor need to confirm?

Can you not just self refer to a midwife?

LoomyNarti · 01/04/2019 17:08

I rang up and asked what I do next and the receptionist said I’ve got To get it confirmed with my doctor before booking in with the midwife. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you googled your local midwives to see what they say? Here we just self refer so I didn't even speak to the gps. They just saw me for booking in at 10 weeks and then my scab at 12 weeks. Before that they just took my word for it.

In my area you can't self refer and have to see the GP first. Our drs don't confirm it though, just take a brief history to see if they need to prioritise the referral. Hopefully once your bloods are back you will get your referral and you won't have to deal with that GP again

I didn’t know for my first that you self referred so I went to see the GP (not sure the receptionist knew tbh that you can self refer). She didn’t re-check though because there is little point although by that point I was over a week from finding out so I don’t think a BFN would have been possible.
Second time round I went on the hospital website in the maternity section and there was an online form. Never seen a GP for this one.
