Expecting my second, a couple days until due date now and feeling fed up as I thought this one would be really early (no idea why!)

My first was 8 days late and I really
Hope this one doesn't go overdue by that much or more.

With my first I went into labour afternoon/eve and then gave birth 2 days later - it was a horrible long labour. Hopefully quicker this time.

Just wondering if most people go into labour in eve / nighttime?

Twice went into labour in the early evening and gave birth the following afternoon.

Bloody exhausted with no sleep.

Bounding down the stairs after a lovely mat leave lie in at 9.30am - water broke all over the carpet.

2nd time. Woke at 4am thinking I must have eaten a bad curry the night before given the tummy cramp I was having.... then I realised!

Thanks all! Had a show this afternoon so my next question is: how long after a show did active labour begin for you??

@brodiee I had my show in the bath at around 9pm, contractions then started at 1.35am for me xx

IntoValhalla · 01/04/2019 19:39

With my first, me waters broke immediately after DTD at around 10pm, but that was it. No contractions, nothing. I was induced 48hrs later.
With the second, I woke up around 4am having what I thought were braxton hicks. Got up, went for a wee and expected them to stop like they always had before, but they just kept coming every few minutes. I woke my DH up a couple of hours later and told him I was pretty certain this was the real thing. DS was born at 2:45pm that day

IntoValhalla · 01/04/2019 19:40

And re: the show, I had it about a week before my waters broke with DC1 (like yellowish, snotty egg white), and I was about 8 hours into labour with DC2 before I had a show (snotty, bloody egg white)

BondiandBabe · 01/04/2019 19:42

Labour started at around 6am with all of mine. Though they were born at 10.55pm, 7.50am, and 1.45pm.

ineedaholidaynow · 01/04/2019 19:43

Contractions started at midnight, went to hospital at 3am, DS born at 6am.

Is mucus plug and show the same or diff? I'm thinking maybe I just had mucus plug. It was mucusy and had browny bits in like old
Blood. Seeing the midwife soon. If she offers a sweep I don't know whether to take it?

It's pretty much the same but the show tends to be a lot of the plug. Can often come with a fair bit if blood, either old or new. Mine came away in about 3 lots on 3 different days, including the day I went into labour.
If you get offered, I'd go for it. Mine failed though, but they often help.

About 23:00 on a Saturday.
Baby born 17:22 on Sunday.

BiddyPop · 02/04/2019 15:03

Dates had changed officially throughout the pg, but on the exact original date GP had given me on day 1, I started laboring in the late evening (about 9pm) and DD arrived at 6am the following morning.

Changingagain · 02/04/2019 15:22

Waters broke at 11am at 38+4, contractions started at 10pm, went to hospital and straight to labour ward at 4am and ds was born at 10am. I didn't get a show but my water went on the toilet (which I feel lucky about) so likely I just didn't see it.

This time I'm hoping it starts mid morning the day before induction and lasts just long enough to get my Mum round to look after ds and for DH to get me to the hospital. In reality it will probably be a long induction as it will be early.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/04/2019 13:05

My mucus plug didn’t come away until after contractions had started. Iirc it was mid-morning after contractions started in the early hours

brodiee · 05/04/2019 14:34

Ended up being induced on Tuesday and baby was born 4 hours later!
