So I'm suffering with the joy of piles.. please tell me your success story's of getting your bum back to normal.. will this happen? How long will it take? Or is my bum going to be grapey forever?!

Also, I've been prescribed anusol suppositories and I've just read on the packet not for use in pregnancy?! Now I'm worried they've prescribed me something they shouldn't have!

I can't give you much advice but I had piles in my first & they never really went. Now with this pregnancy they are horrendous. I need to go to the doctors next week because of them Sad

I had piles before pregnancy because of, erm, bowel issues. Constipation from long term codeine and the like. So getting them in pregnancy hasn't really been much of a shock for me.

Baby wipes or witch Hazel wipes/pads can be soothing for when you wipe, rather than just dry tissue paper.

I've heard of loads of women using Anusol during pregnancy, if your GP prescribed them I wouldn't worry.

I didn't have piles before pregnancy but did after childbirth. They have never really gone 100%.
It might be something you have to live with.

Use the suppositories. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fibre. Mine were gone within weeks of delivery but did return in 2nd pregnancy.

I’m having the same issue baby arrived 8 March it kicked off few days after 🤦🏾‍♀️ Got some stuff from docs but it’s taking a while to make any difference. Gonna try anusol again internal too! Been taking short baths to help it along. May try sitz bath I think it’s called?

Thank you ladies. Oh the joys of pregnancy. I've invested in some prune juice.. maybe that will help Confused

Have you been to the GP? After I gave birth I had piles and anal fissures (small tears!) 😭😭😭😭

I had suppositories and a gel like thing to help with the pain. Hope you don’t have fissures as well. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

EmbarrassedMumToBe · 30/03/2019 17:47

Yes, I've been to the gp. But the anusol doesn't seem to be making any difference

@EmbarrassedMumToBe why don’t you go back and ask them to check if there’s anything else and also if they can prescribed anything else. You could also ask for Fybrogel (spelling?) and that will help with the consistency, if you see what I mean.

EmbarrassedMumToBe · 31/03/2019 09:20

@daphine2004 I'm going to make an appointment this week. See what the doctor has to say. Hopefully they can give me something else

@EmbarrassedMumToBe I know this is a random question, but does it feel like you’re passing shards of glass? If so I think it could be a teeny fissure. It would take me ages to go and I’d always wish I was back in labour as that pain was more bearable than going to the loo!

Pleased you’re going back to the GP.

ThinkingAboutRL · 31/03/2019 09:47

Attack it with all you can! I've had them on and off for years but I had them in my last pregnancy and they were nearly worse than actually giving birth. I used the suppositories (agreed could use by the GP), cream, sitz baths, lactulose to stop any constipation and which hazel soaked cotton pads (but only if you don't also have fissures as that can STING). I mixed it up and used a combination of anusol and preparation H. It does take a couple of days but then they do calm down. I haven't got them this pregnancy yet (32 weeks currently) but have had them a couple of times since my last pregnancy....

In the same boat here. Have found that midwives / GP's / consultants have all had the attitude of "what do you expect you're pregnant"; nothing has worked on mine! Looking forward to labouring with them 😂

Just coming back to this now DS has arrived. They're definitely the worst part of my postpartum recovery this time.
