I've had no email or notes about what to do or expect. Is there something about drinking water before?

I have a scan coming up (but am more like 10.5 weeks) and they've said to attend with a full bladder. I think it makes the uterus easier to see or something...

Ok thanks. Do you know how long it takes?

Drink a pint of water an hour before.

The scan will last about 10 minutes but if it’s NHS then your appointment may not be on time.

My letter said I didn’t need a full bladder and just to drink normally - in fact the sonographer asked me to go and empty my bladder as it was interfering with the imaging!!

I would drink normally and avoid going to the loo but also take a bottle of water with you just in case they want a full bladder.

In terms of the scan, for a singleton pregnancy, they usually allow 20-30 minutes to complete the scan and then you will probably be weighed and height measured, possibly blood tests done depending on the hospital policy.

If you haven't been told to go with a full bladder then don't. Most places have more modem equipment now which doesn't need a full bladder. In fact sometimes they make you go for a wee to completely empty your bladder so it's easier to see.

You could always go with a full bladder and if not required then just empty it..... that's what I've done for all my scans, my 12 week scan suggested a full bladder so would imagine earlier ones would be the same tbh 😌
