Hi!!

I'm sorry if this question gets asked lots.

Im 7 weeks pregnant (I've not told many people tho) and have my first nidwife appointment in April - I'll be 10 weeks along by then.

Only problem is...

I was adopted and have very little to no knowledge of my family history, especially on my maternal side.

Does anyone what happens if that's the case?

Thank you so much xx

I don't think it really matters.

Congratulations!

No it won't matter at all, it's a very dull appointment really, loads of questions and paper filling in etc, but very exciting for you, congratulations!

Just be honest and tell them you don’t know. My DH is NC with most of his family so I couldn’t answer much on his side. It didn’t matter. The questions just help them assess risk, it doesn’t impact on your care. They just have to work with what they can see instead.

Thank you so much for answering and for your congratulations. Its not really sunk in properly yet (only found out Monday).

Its so surreal I don't really believe it if Im honest

I couldn't answer 100% either as my dad was adopted so I don't know the whole family health history. Just be honest and tell them you don't know. And congratulations! :)
