Fainting/heat/lying on back

Hi
At my scan yesterday I almost passed out. The drop in my blood pressure also caused the baby’s heart rate to drop for about two minutes. Recovered quickly after and monitored- everything seems ok. Doctors thought it may be because of lying on back (which I think puts pressure on vena cava). I thought it might be due to overheating as the hospital is always so hot and this has happened to me twice before when I have been on trains which were very hot.
I have to have a scan again in two weeks. Feel a bit worried as it will mean lying on my back again. I recover quickly from the blood pressure drops but not sure what impact it has on baby. Anyone else been fainting?

I have low blood pressure anyway, so was prone to fainting. However it was about ten times worse when I was pregnant.
One of the worst things for me was heat. Going to hospital was a nightmare as it made me feel so woozy the whole time I was there. And don't get me started on blood tests! Lol I always faint at those, so was having bloods taken weekly and so had to have the bloods taken whilst laying down.

Ah! Reassuring to know I’m not the only one! I really worry about the effect on baby. Was everything ok with yours?

Can you take a pillow to put under your right side to raise it slightly? I don’t know if that would make the scan more difficult but might be worth a try.

Interesting. I’ll take one along and see what they say.

I had scans while laying on my side, facing away from the sonographer. Just said I felt faint and they said to move onto my side.

@Jadefeather7 yeah everything was fine with her. Bless her but she's used to her mum fainting now Grin and looks after me if i need blood tests!

@Jadefeather7 Your baby isn't being harmed by this, don't worry.

This happened to me during a scan with the consultant. She just said to make sure to lie on my side for future scans.
