Hi all, just wondering if anyone can give advice or insight into the difference between the three bedside cribs, snuzpod, Chicco next to me or tutti bambini? Which would you recommend and which is sturdier? Thanks in advance!

Snuzpod is probably sturdiest, but the next to
me is bigger so will last longer. The new model has a feature to prop one end up as well to help with reflux.

SoyDora · 27/03/2019 20:12

We’ve got the tutti bambini and love it. It’s big enough that it will last a while, can be tilted for babies with reflux, is sturdy and looks good.

tenbob · 27/03/2019 20:13

We went for the Snuzpod almost entirely based on looks..!

Downside: it doesn’t fold flat for storage when you’re done with it

Upside; it’s sturdy, you can rock the baby while they are in, the sheets are a standard size, it has a storage shelf underneath which you can reach from bed to get muslins
It looks lovely,
We also were told we could carry the bassinet part around the house as a Moses basket. We did this zero times

SoyDora · 27/03/2019 20:14

The tutti bambini also has a storage shelf underneath

fitzbilly · 27/03/2019 20:15

It's irrelevant really as it will just become a bedside table for you, and your baby will never sleep in it, preferring to be snuggled up to you. That's my experience with all three of my children anyway

QueenAnneBoleyn · 27/03/2019 20:15

We used the Chicco Next to Me and have no complaints. Easy to assemble, adjust and very sturdy. DD slept in it til she was 7 months old and then we transferred her to a cot in her own room.
If you do go for this don’t bother buying their fitted sheets as they can come up quite expensive. The Love Baby company on amazon make fitted sheets for the Next to Me.

tenbob · 27/03/2019 20:16

Re lasting...

Our DS was pulling himself up by 6 months so we had to move him into a proper cot. He hadn’t grown out of the snuzpod for sleeping but we couldn’t risk him climbing out

The next to me is bigger so could house a baby til they are older but this is only if they aren’t trying to pull themselves up
If you have an early mover, they can’t be in a side-sleeper...

I love my Snuzpod3! I can’t say wether it’s better than the other two though. I preferred the Chicco one and the Snuzpod because they rock (the Tutti is stationary). I think the Chicco one is probably more convenient but I love the way the SnüzPod looks!

MrBobLoblaw · 27/03/2019 20:20

I had the snug pod but then upgraded to the Chico which I much preferred. It was bigger (DS was a big baby!) and it had the function to raise/lower one end of the cot. Though I have a feeling the snuz pod now does this too. It isn't as nice looking though and I like the snuz pods up/down side panel compared to the Chico. The Chico one had to either be permanently up or permanently down.

BertieBotts · 27/03/2019 20:32

There is another one, the Waldin one from amazon. It's good because it has a much higher weight limit than the others (meaning both you can use it for longer but crucially - if you need to lean into the cot to soothe the baby you can) and it's cheap, but the mattress which comes with it is awful, I would strongly recommend getting a replacement one (get one custom made - this kind of thing: babymattressesonline.co.uk/mattresses-by-size) because the one it comes with is too flimsy and just bends out of shape when you try and put a sheet on it, you can squash it down, but it still leaves massive gaps around the edge of the cot. A mattress isn't too much extra so I still think it's worth a look.

sparkling123 · 27/03/2019 20:35

We have a snuzpod, it is lovely and sturdy but in hindsight I think a next to me would have been fine as well. I wanted it as I wanted to breastfeed during night, and co sleep safely. Before baby arrived I thought snuzpod would be the best option but now with practical experience the next to me dream would have done the job just as well and a lot cheaper.

BertieBotts · 27/03/2019 20:36

Well, you can still use a side sleeper even if they can roll/crawl, you just never leave them unattended, and if you're going to leave them asleep, you get a very sensitive monitor and rush to every squeak just in case, or have a video one.

I used a side sleeper with DS1 until he was 2 but it was an ordinary cot converted, which is another option, by the way.

maryberryslayers · 27/03/2019 20:40

Tutti Bambini is excellent, and imo looks so much nicer than next2me.
It's really sturdy and very easy to put together.
It folds flat and pops in to the carry bag for travel and is big enough for at least 9 months, ds is 6 months and there's plenty of room.

Clarabellawilliamson · 27/03/2019 20:41

I had the tutti bambini this time and loved it. Last time I hired a bed nest but the side annoyed me as it was always in the way. I ummed and ahhed for ages between the chicco and the tutti, but was really pleased with it. It looked smart, was sturdy and secure, the shelf was handy, we packed it up and took it away with us instead of a travel cot. DS was in it till he could pull himself up. If you really can't decide, just go and look at them and choose based on which looks nicest, they will all do the job!

olderthanyouthink · 27/03/2019 20:42

There's about three versions on the next2me we have the one where you can raise to side easily and it can rock (wobble) but the side doesn't get out of the was so you can't slide baby smoothly from your bed to theirs - the one that does this doesn't rock and then there's the latest one that swings.

DrWhy · 27/03/2019 20:42

We have a next to me and love it. Folded it up and put it in the loft between DS and DD. Set the head slightly elevated when they get a cold. How long it will last must depend a lot on the size of your baby, DD is nearly 5 months and only has about 4 inches more room so if we’d got anything smaller she’d be out of it already.

FirsttimerNI · 27/03/2019 21:10

Thanks all so much for all the replies xx

We had the snuzpod. At the time the tutti bambini didn’t exist and the next to me was simply too wide for the space we had. I did/do love how the snuzpod looks though! My little girl was in it until she was 6 months (9lb 7 at birth) and in the early weeks we used the top part downstairs during the day instead of buying a separate Moses basket.

eightoclock · 27/03/2019 21:45

Can anyone say which is the narrowest? We have a very small bedroom but hoping there's space to fit one of them in. Is it OK to have it directly next to the wall on the other side?

PBobs · 28/03/2019 00:17

We bought an Arm's Reach Mini Ezee Cosleeper. Not used it yet but we love it. Folds up for travel and fairly lightweight. Can be used a side sleeper but also as a stand alone or as a deeper cot/sleep approved play pen. We were worried about baby being able to pull themselves up early. I was doing it by 4 months and was in a regular single bed before 18 months as I used to climb out of my standard deep cot and throw myself over the side to get out. Hahaha. I was worried I might end up with one like me as karmic revenge for what I did to my parents. We won't be able to get a proper cot until baby is 6 months so needed something we could use as a deeper cot until then.

I did find the next to me to be very wide though. You'd want to make sure you have the room for it alongside your bed. It's a substantial looking piece of furniture.

MrBobLoblaw · 28/03/2019 06:22

@eightoclock the snuzpod is the narrowest. Chico is quite a bit bigger in width and length.

BertieBotts · 28/03/2019 10:48

Be careful if you get a second hand next2me. The original model was implicated in a baby's death. It was being used incorrectly, but not in a way which was obviously wrong. The newer versions have made this set up impossible.

NannyPear · 28/03/2019 10:55

@fitzbilly has it spot on. The snuzpod is the most expensive bedside table I've ever had. Got it back out this week for DC2 though...
