I would love some fun guesses as I am aware the nub isn’t noticeable from my dating scan! I have my anomaly scan tomorrow so really hoping to find out! Pink or blue?

Pink or blue fun guesses please
OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:02

@OldBrownShoe you just described the exact amount of stupidity I just explained in a previous comment..

Samind · 27/03/2019 10:03

I'd say boy! Good luck OP and let us know 😀

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:07

@PhoebeBear OP didn’t ask to guess the sex of the baby. She asked pink or blue. Which means basically nothing. It’s not stupidity educate people on the damage stereotyping can do to children even before they’re born. No ones sex has a colour.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 27/03/2019 10:12

I commented on this thread because when I had my first scan I asked the same question on mumsnet and was HOUNDED by people saying the exact same to me. 'You can't just presume the gender.. a little girl could turn out transsexual in the future' 'there are 70 different genders..'
I'm sorry but years ago you would never hear this crap, it would be a boy or a girl you would get to hear if you could see the genitals on a scan. I think it's ridiculous that people can be so mean to each other over the internet about someone asking a simple question about their lovely baby.
So yes if I have to answer that question, blue is for boys and pink for girls.

What are you on about? There are two sexes, boy and girl? Penis = boy, vagina = girl. In fact that's exactly what the sonogrpaher is going to be looking at tomorrow to give the OP her answer.

If the OP had asked 'do you think my baby is a boy or girl' I probably would have scrolled past tbh as I'm no good at ultrasounds!

But I am allowed to challenge bag o' shite gender stereotypes like 'do you think my baby is pink or blue' when I see them. I'm sorry if that offends you.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 27/03/2019 10:13

Sorry, I had a quote fail on my post there.

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:13

@OldBrownShoe exactly she asked if the baby is team blue or pink- wether you can see if it has a vagina or a penis

She did not ask if anyone can see the babies genitals and if they reckon in the future it will decide it no longer wants to be a boy or girl..
You know EXACTLY what the op is asking in this thread, everyone does, but they decide to try and 'outsmart' with their witty comments about not sticking a certain gender on a baby.

If the OP's question was ' I can't see the babies private parts but does anyone want to take a guess if it will identify as a different sex in the future' everyone would laugh at her.. would you prefer that was how the question was written out to make it more suited to you?

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:15

So vagina = pink and penis = blue? Poor smurfette.

Ps you can’t identify as a different sex - you’re either XX or XY

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 27/03/2019 10:17

Why is everyone talking about identifying as a different sex? You can't 'identify as a different sex', you are either male or female, you can't change that. Ever.

What you can change are the ridiculous stereotypes associated with sex, usually starting as pink or blue, and the restrictions placed upon males and females because of those stereotypes.

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:18

Sorry OP, your little baby is now being described as a 'smurfette' now... never saw a baby born as one but there seems to be people out there that think there is hmm...

At least you used the 'ette' on the end of 'smurfette' to show you think baby is going to be a girl rather than a 'smurf'
Congrats 🎉 we have a winner!

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:22

@BarbieJellyBabyBrain I agree with you there. I'm having a son in August and I haven't painted his room blue simply because I don't like the colour, his room is white and grey. However I would not refuse to let him wear blue or if he wanted his room changed when he is older. I do agree that pink should not be forced on girls and that blue should not be forced on boys.
What I'm trying to say is that the term thrown around is that blue means boy and pink for girl. In this users post that's what she meant rather than saying boy or girl.

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:22

I was referring to the real smurfette, who is blue, therefore can’t be a girl.

(And smurfette is as real as gender is)

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:23

But blue doesn’t mean boy and pink doesn’t mean girl. That’s just your interpretation

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:24

@OldBrownShoe how about just don't call this poor OP's baby a 'smurf' in the first place. Quite disrespectful.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 27/03/2019 10:29

I do agree that pink should not be forced on girls and that blue should not be forced on boys.

And yet that is exactly what the OP did. Not in an aggressive and sinister way, but it doesn't have to be aggressive, in fact it's the very gentle drip feeding that does more damage, because we don't even realise its happening.

And despite what people may think, I don't think the OP is a 'bad person' or anything and my posts aren't personal towards them. I'm challenging a stereotype which I believe is part of a wider picture which becomes damaging for both boys and girl.

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:37

I said ‘unless’ it’s a smurf. Which is the only way it will be blue. Maybe you shouldn’t assume the OPs race.

Hotpinkangel19 · 27/03/2019 10:52

What a load of rubbish! Everyone knew what OP means - some absolutely pathetic, sad people on MN today 🙄

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:52

😂 where did I assume the OP's race

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 10:53

@Hotpinkangel19 it's awful isn't it.
I had the same crap when I posted my 12 week scan and couldn't believe there is actual people out there like this. A fun guess for the baby turns into a whole debate..
Funniest was when I was told to consider the 70+genders my baby could be 😂

Hotpinkangel19 · 27/03/2019 10:57

@PhoebeBear it's awful. Sad, people with nothing better to do than stalk the boards and cause arguments or drop stupid comments in. Ignore the stupid comments OP, I'm guessing PINK.

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 10:59

You’re presuming she/he is not a smurf. It’s rude.

Point is that it’s either a boy or girl. XY or XX. Not pink/blue masculine/feminine. The sooner these stupid stereotypes are done with the better for the future generations where there WONT be 70+ genders, because everyone will know that gender is a made up feeling that’s being appropriated for mentally dangerous reasons.

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 11:01

@OldBrownShoe You’re presuming she/he is not a smurf. It’s rude.

Hold up, you're not serious are you?😂😂

PhoebeBear · 27/03/2019 11:03

@OldBrownShoe if anything you were the one if the first place that came out with this 'smurf' comment so actually you presumed it.
Sorry, I can not argue with someone this low in brain cells 😂

OldBrownShoe · 27/03/2019 11:19

No of course I’m not serious ffs.

Just highlighting how ridiculous all this boys are blue and girls are pink bollocks is. You said yourself you’ve been on the receiving end of the gender debate so it’s just perplexing to me that you’re buying into it all. The reason it’s accepted that there are 70+ genders now is because of the stereotyping that you’re defending.

Eatmycheese · 27/03/2019 11:23

Boy

Some of you really need to stop being so hysterical, hijacking a lighthearted threat with your own issues and hobbyhorsing

The pink room = less pay is so tragic. I will tell that to my niece who has the pinkest room I’ve ever seen and is off to study mathematics at a top university. She will chuckle at you.
Stop unintentionally strengthening the sterotypes you’re raging against.
