Wondering if anyone has any tips for restless legs in pregnancy? I just feel they are constantly un comfy and feel like I need to move them all the time. Thanks x

I have had this in both pregnancies, just recently tried Epsom salts in the bath after a suggestion from my pregnancy yoga teacher and it has really helped. Think the theory is that it may be related to low levels of magnesium / potassium and these are supposed to be absorbed into yr skin through the salts.. eating bananas is supposed to help too!

Had this in both my pregnancies. Nightly Epsom salts bath whilst eating a banana and drinking a glass of milk helped me massively.

I had this and magnesium tablets helped massively

I had it both pregnancies really badly, and my top tip is to sit in bed legs out in front of you and roll your legs in and out as fast as you can for as long as you can until the inside of your thighs ache and bobs your uncle, no more restless legs.

Glass of Indian tonic water and flexing your feet in bed

ShirleyPhallus · 24/03/2019 22:21

I have this without pregnancy and I take a sports drink before bed. Electrolyte tablet disolved in water sorts it right out

Grazek · 24/03/2019 22:32

I had this and magnesium spray worked wonders

Not pregnant but I get this. My tips are Epsom salt bath, slightly elevate your feet or sleep with one of them pregnancy pillows between your legs. Not too hot or too cold. Oh and cut down on salt in your diet. This stuff helps me at times anyway Smile

Magnesium - I agree with pp

Banana before bed
Milk before bed
Hot water bottle or ice pack in between legs in bed
Paracetamol if really bad

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 24/03/2019 23:55

I hadn't realised bananas were good, I used to eat one every day but kind of forgot about them lately.

ParadiseLaundry · 25/03/2019 04:13

I had it in my first pregnancy and it was actually quite distressing when it happened as I was so tired but just couldn't sleep because of my legs. When it happened the only thing that would help would be distracting myself like going on my phone.

Saying that I'm halfway though my second pregnancy now and haven't suffered at all yet, but I am taking a magnesium supplement so maybe there's truth in what others are saying!

burritofan · 25/03/2019 04:48

I make DP sit on my legs, it's the only thing that helps. But maybe I'll try magnesium!

laura2107 · 05/04/2019 22:39

Just wanted to come on here and say thanks for the suggestions! I've taken magnesium supplements and they are working wonders so I'm delighted. It's great to not want to rip my legs off and feel more comfortable 😀😀 x

Hi ladies,
I also get really annoying restless legs, and after reading this think I'll try magnesium too. Just wondered though, is that in addition to a pregnancy multivitamin? As I already take one that has some magnesium in it. TIA

Eliza1419 · 06/04/2019 17:58

@laura2107 are you taking magnesium and pregnancy multivitamins?

laura2107 · 06/04/2019 20:51

Sorry just seen your question. No I'm not taking pregnancy vitamins. I just take a folic acid and magnesium supplement. So would maybe ask your pharmacist about taking the 2 because you don't want to take to much x
