Ladies can you talk to me about braxton hicks and when to get checked?
No discharge no leak no blood but honestly had them all afternoon since 1 pm
They don’t stop laying down
they don’t stop moving around
The baby seems to be on my side a bit in a funny position which may be why.
Not dehydrated and eating etc
I’m 25 weeks

Thanks

Are they painful, or getting more frequent? How often are they coming?

roundligament · 24/03/2019 18:58

They aren't regular but when I counted between 3-5 pm I had 27 in just over 120 mins
They don't hurt though
Now they are less often but still coming
I'm a bit worried but I don't have any other symptoms apart from the hot flushes

Triage?

roundligament · 25/03/2019 01:03

They called down for a few hours now back again
I'll have to ring the labour ward as day care isn't open
I think it's nothing but the guilt if it were something ..

How is everything this morning?

roundligament · 25/03/2019 10:09

Hey thank you for checking in on me I'm in the day care unit having a little bit of monitoring
I had contractions or tightenings all night
Still no leaking of anything just hot flushes occasionally
I'm wondering now if it's because I have horrible pain in my back (existing nerve damage) that my body is doing this. That and the fact I'm very small so perhaps it's just an adjustment for my body.
The baby is still moving plenty and the midwife who listened to the heart beat did not seem worried but she's not felt the tightenings and I haven't spoken to anyone about what's going on yet. I've given a urine sample not sure if it had anything going on with it. But no blood test so might be ok?
I also haven't had a CTG but I don't know about their uses this early in pregnancy and if they are a reliable form of or even valid form of monitoring for this stage in pregnancy
Thank you for checking in on me

Glad you’re being checked over. I don’t think the CTG would pick baby up at 25w, as far as I know they can only really be used from 28w. Hopefully they’ll be able to give you some reassurance and an explanation soon Smile

cervix closed and swob back negative which is a blessing
I'm at home taking it easy. I've been told I was probably over doing it a bit and to rest more if I can. Also that it's my body practising but if it becomes very painful to come back Smile
I'm glad I went in to be checked always better safe then sorry

I'm currently 32 weeks and I've had this regularly since 24 weeks and have been in and out of triage. My contractions come every 3-5 mins at times and can be painful, accompanied by period pains and back pains. As my last DC arrived at 29 weeks they aren't taking any chances so have done lots of scans and tests. The good news is that it seems to be irritable uterus; yours sounds the same as your cervix is still closed. It messes with your head and made me very anxious until 30 weeks but it's not come to anything yet and it isn't linked to preterm labour. Always call if you're unsure but just wanted you to be reassured that this may well be just one of those crazy pregnancy things that some people get!

@KateTTC123 thank you so much for sending over this information it's very reassuring. I did go into labour at 35 weeks with my son so it's in the back of my head. It's always a nervous time.
I've had them all night and morning. Sometimes sore sometimes not. You are right that it makes your head full of thoughts about what it could be
Take care of yourself c
