Crippling pain at 12 weeks

I've had pain in my lower left side since the beginning, which has been getting really bad. I had a scan at 7+4 which showed a healthy baby but nothing to pinpoint the pain.

Now if I try and walk it's like my hips have gone on holiday, each step is agony. I know there's PGP but I thought that was a treat for your third trimester not now.

I don't want to wish pain on anyone, but also want to know I'm not alone.

My MS started at 11 weeks too, cooked dinner last week, a spoonful and a bit of naan bread and I was so really sick. Since then that's been getting worse too. The idea of 28 more weeks of this is quite scary.

Spd / pgp can start early

See your gp you may need a physio refferal

Doop · 25/03/2019 15:31

Me!! Oh god me! Its getting me so down.
I had to call in sick today...ive called in for the entire week because the thought of being able to walk any time soon seems riduculous.
My boss is awful so ive been anxious about that too.
My pain started a couple of weeks ago, and it felt muscular and although unpleasent i could deal with it... now, since friday, its felt like my hips arent alined and i have a constant gnawing/trapped nerve feeling in my left button hip and leg.
I am so scared its going to carry on through the whole pregnancy (im 10 weeks).
Id just gotten over a bout of major anxiety regarding this pregnancy (my first at 38), and now its back.
I emailled a chiropractor and he said SI pelvic pain was likely this early on, but they both sound the same to me.

Doop · 25/03/2019 15:33

Each step is agony...yes! As is sitting, standing, laying down.... i could lay on my opposite side for comfort a couple of days ago, but not now 😣

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/03/2019 15:37

If you are off sick for a reason related to pregnancy your boss cant say shit

Doop · 25/03/2019 21:47

@IVEgottheDECAF to be honest he has been nicer than expected... he is probably scared of me now!

Doop · 27/03/2019 21:02

@CantBelieveMyLuck how is your back?
Mine is still the same. Its depressing.

BetterEatCheese · 27/03/2019 21:17

Do you have a history of hyper mobility? I'm
Asking as I was diagnosed with it after I had suffered with pgp. It comes on earlier if you're hyper mobile. I was in agony for months. Please go and see someone and get some supports and crutches if you need them.

Doop · 28/03/2019 09:12

@BetterEatCheese
No, i cant even touch my toes on the best of days! I was the worst in my yoga class too. But herniated disks run through our family (my dad and his sister, my brother and I all have them), so i assume for me it is that, and because there is left room for bits to move about now, thinhs are constatnly on my sciatic nerve. I dont really know. Im guessing.

CantBelieveMyLuck · 28/03/2019 12:04

I'm sorry others are suffering the same, it's absolutely awful, each step feels like hell. I'm actually having to think about how I walk which is weird and new. Ironically climbing into bed doesn't magic it away either.

My hips have always dislocated in the past, I've never really known why, just thought it was some weird party trick. It was always worse during sex, Id have to say please be careful.

I need to google where baby is lying right now (nearly 13 weeks) to see if I can get my head around it.

ThanksCake for everyone else suffering. It's truly awful.

I went to the chiropractor today and she said i have a multitude of things wrong. Some being preggers related and all being exacerbated by it. She thinks she sorted the sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Apparently i was totally misaligned and had ong leg significantly longer than the other. Still in pain but glad i went. Shes also told me to buy a support belt...we will see if that helps.

Wupiny · 04/04/2019 21:06

Glad I found this thread and to know I am not the only one. I met my MW today but she couldn't help. I am waiting to see my gp and get referred to a physiotherapist.

I am 13 weeks and don't know how I am going to cope if it carries on like that.

Doop · 04/04/2019 21:33

@Wupiny I know that feeling. My midwife didnt know what to do and the gp wasnt specialist enough. Last time i had an nhs physio they didnt help so i paid to go private. Its £35 a session and worth every penny just to get seen instantly and speak to someone who knows all there is to know about how your back works.

Middlrm · 04/04/2019 21:39

I have no magic answer, but maybe one of those big wrap around maternity pillows will help I had hip pain from 20
Weeks ... I couldn’t lay on one side for more than 40 mins without waking up in agony ... the pillow seems to ease it ... I was still waking up and rotating hips but I was getting some sleep.

Hope the doctor can offer help x

Wupiny · 04/04/2019 21:40

Thanks @Doop. I am seriously considering seeing a private physiotherapist too as it might take ages to see an NHS one.
How many sessions are you going to have? Is one enough?

Doop · 04/04/2019 22:14

@Wupiny if i had only the sacroiliac joint dysfunction i wouldve been fixed in one session, yes! Amazing really... unfortunately i have alsorts going on and she was really fed up that she hadnt fixed me in one go.

Wupiny · 05/04/2019 18:26

@Doop, sorry to hear that. Hope you get fixed on your next session. It's reassuring to know that they can help.

@Middlrm thanks for the advice, I was thinking of getting a maternity pillow when my baby bump get bigger but I will be getting one this weekend.
