Hi, I am looking to buy a second hand next to me crib. There is someone selling one near me but they do not have the straps that come with it. Not sure whether I should buy it - do many people have experiencing using /not using the straps and have any advice please?

I wouldn't, the straps help to keep it in position right next to the bed. I would worry that without the straps it could potentially move slightly away from the side of the bed, creating a small gap which you absolutely don't want

Yes, you need the straps to stop it from creating a gap between the mattress and crib. I wouldn't have used mine without it unless the sides were permanently up.

You can buy the straps on the chicco website though.

You can buy the straps separately if that helps?
I bought a second hand next to me dream without straps and we were planning to either buy them or make our own attachments. In the end the baby has reflux so I've tilted the crib and he only sleeps with the side up, which means it can't be attached to our bed anyway so I haven't needed them.

Yeah I've just had a look and see can buy the straps for £17.50 online. When the seller is asking for £80 for the second hand crib though I wonder whether I should just buy it new instead 🤔

Once you've bought straps and a new mattress you might as well have bought new I think!

We got our next to me dream in the after Christmas sales at JL for £114 and they also had the original for £108. This is the cheapest I've seen it, as had been price watching since we found out we were pregnant. Depending on when you're due you could wait for the sales (Black Friday also a good one for baby items although it was around £150 then) as like other people have said by the time you've got the straps and the mattress you could have got one new if you time when you buy it right.
