Hi all, am 9 weeks pregnant and gaining 1lb every week for the last 6 weeks! Absolutely gutted to have ballooned so quickly, I’ve been really lucky having no sickness etc and obviously not drinking but have certainly not been eating for two! If anything I’ve been a lot better diet wise. I do kettlebells five times a week too! Seems grossly unfair to have put on so much for no reason! Anyone else the same?

Hello! I'm almost 14 weeks and have put on 7lbs over the first trimester. My midwife did say everyone is different and there's no set rules about weight gain.
it's going to happen as our bodies change, I had another midwife who said that's as long as you stay healthy and active and focus of nutrition not calories just forget the scales for the next 9 months! Xxx

I gained a stone in the first trimester but have only put on a few more pounds during the whole of the second. My morning sickness prevention was eating, and now I've got indigestion that's dulling my appetite! So you may find you slow down too but if you Google the 'normal' weight gain advice it's pretty generous and everyone is different. But I was worried I was going to keep expanding at the same rate and definitely haven't so you may be the same Smile

Don't feel gutted, it's perfectly normal, and all or some may be just water weight that will be lost pretty quickly after birth. I was a skinny minny before I was pregnant and by 8ish weeks I'd gained over 2kg despite nausea making me eat less than usual. I'm due on wednesday and I've gained over 3 stone, again despite having quite a normal if not smaller appetite than my pre-pregnancy appetite. Every woman's body is affected differently by pregnancy, the main thing to remember is it's changing to ensure your little bub is as healthy as possible, and once you've given birth you will lose any excess weight over time just by the extra energy it will take looking after the little one :)

I gained half a stone by the time I was 10 weeks. There's a whole bunch of reasons for this, including water retention. I learnt to let go of thinking about my weight during pregnancy, I used to drive myself crazy stepping on the scales and being horrified when they had moved up. As long as you're being healthy and drinking lots of water, don't worry! It's natural and with breastfeeding will most likely come off quickly within a few months of giving birth. In total I gained 3 stone during pregnancy, my LB is 4 months and I have lost 2st 3 pounds

I've been measuring my thigh to ensure that the weight isn't fat and is water weight and all that ha.

I'm nearly 8 weeks and have lost despite eating like a pig and no morning sickness. I don't get it at all because before I barely ate!

By about 10 weeks I’d put on half a stone but it turned out to be all water. I’m 19 weeks now and apart from no room on my belly, my clothes are fitting and I look pretty much the same everywjere else. Don’t worry, I think it can be so up and down and doesn’t mean it’ll keep going at that rate

What happens when your bmi hits 30? That's the point where they talk about gestational diabetes and mine is 28 at the moment at 11+2
