How/What should I feel at 18-19 weeks pregnant

Hi, I'm new here, a first time mum to be at 39 years old. I've recently had lots of people asking whether I am feeling any movement and that I don't look very pregnant. I also used to feel twinges when I got out of chairs or walked up stairs but over the last couple of days I'm not feeling anything and am starting to worry. I keep telling myself this is fine, but think I need reassurance. Thanks Smile

Your fine! I think I started feeling tickles and tingles in my belly about 19 weeks but don’t think it was until about 20/21 weeks I could tell it was movements.

The feelings will come and go at the moment too as it’s too early for any sort of pattern.

Also depends on where your placenta is too!

When is your 20 week scan?

It's on the 28th of this month so not long to go thankfully.

Thanks x

I’m a similar age and felt my first definite movement at 19 weeks 5 days. Do you know if your placenta is anterior? It might be later if so.

I'm 26 weeks and people are still telling me I don't look very pregnant (depending on what I'm wearing) but my squashed digestive system and lungs would argue that 😂 oh and the baby currently having a disco on its own in there. Long story short, ignore them!
In terms of movement I started getting light hints like muscle twitches around 18 weeks but the proper definite moves didn't start til about 22 weeks for me, which is still fairly early by all accounts. The twinges were probably your ligaments stretching which have settled now but you might find they randomly reappear every now and then.

@Twigie I am exactly the same. Not really feeling anything and still in my normal clothes. I've had a few twinges but nothing that I would call movement. Everything I've read says it's normal at this stage so I'm trying to remind myself to be patient.

I’m 19weeks tomorrow and my scan is also on 28th! This is my fourth dc though so I have been feeling baby for ages already! Most people feel their first at a lot later than consequent babies and from what I’ve read it’s more difficult to feel anything if you have an anterior placenta so may be worth asking at the scan (if not already somewhere in your notes)
Personally I think I look HUGE already but most people say I’m tiny - I will however have growth scans because I have small babies! I reckon this one is gonna be much bigger tho, but they say that you look smaller with first and bigger with others because your stomach muscles are already stretched - apparently it doesn’t make a difference to the size of the baby 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyway, point being, ignore what people say to you, everyone’s experiences are different! Not long now until you get to see your baby again x

Thank you all for your replies! I'm feeling calmer and more relaxed now

I'm not sure about my placenta, but I will be asking.

Thanks again x

I didn't show with my first for ages, I had a little bloated look belly but nothing major until 30 week+ don't worry and as for movements I was around 21 weeks before I felt anything xx
