Movements

Currently 23+4.

Should I be feeling regular movements?
I'm not sure I've felt baby today. Should I be worried? Or not? I know some people don't feel movement till after 24 weeks.

Please ring your MW or maternity triage.

For what it’s worth I had to think really hard about movements, I had a high anterior placenta and a breech baby. Do you know of your placenta is front or back facing? If you don’t know, ask at your next scan.

But none of us are professionals and only speaking to your MW is going to be relevant to you. They would rather you call a hundred times than worry or miss something Flowers

I'm waiting on a call back. Was hoping someone would tell me I'm being silly for worrying. I have an anterior placenta

I would try not to be too worried, I think I phoned around 23 weeks and told they werent worried at that stage however think they still have me the advice to lay on my left for 2 hours to keep a note of movements and phone back if I was still concerned.

Try a cold drink and lying on your left side. Don't panic Smile this happened to me and I was so worried then in the evening baby went berserk!

Spargle · 16/03/2019 14:30

I think they want you to feel the baby move at least once a day at this stage. It is very likely that everything is absolutely fine (babies can be very inconsistent at this age), but definitely a good idea to speak to your midwife and follow their advice.

I called at 25 and they said they don't start monitoring till 28 as babies not in a regular pattern. They told me to lie on side, cold drink and have something sweet. Try not to worry

Gobletoffire · 16/03/2019 15:03

I had an anterior placenta and I didn’t always feel movements some days at 23 weeks. When I spoke to my midwife she says that I wouldn’t start to notice a pattern until after 24 weeks, usually even later with an anterior placenta. Always best to phone though if you’re worried. As a PP has said, lie on your left side for an hour or so in bed. And have a cold drink. This is probably what they’ll advise you to do when they phone you back. X

This is a leaflet I got from my midwife; and they always ask you to come in if you think you have reduced movements

Heyha · 16/03/2019 15:26

I called at about 23 weeks as I'd had hardly any movements and had tried my usual 'triggers' without much joy. They asked me to pop in for a Doppler for reassurance, fitted me in as a 5 minute job in the antenatal clinic.
It coincided with me being off my food and then a couple of days later a real change in bump shape so I think we were both just having a spurt and a couple of quiet days. Always worth a phone call!

Sorry for the slow reply. The midwife called and asked me to go to the local hospital, she listened to the heart beat and said everything was fine. She did say I should feel baby every day. But she wouldn't expect it to be regular movements until 28 week.

Thank you for all the advice

Glad everything is ok, OP. We had a similar scenario when I was 26 weeks. Was told the same thing by the hospital - better safe than sorry 🙂 good luck for the rest of your pregnancy.

If you get further reduce movement / can’t feel it defo don’t be afraid to ring triage. I had 5 episodes of reduce movement although baby heartbeat was fine. Had my boy last Friday after being induced as the docs can only go off so much info as to baby being ok. Was almost at 38 weeks :)
