Hi, this is my 4th pregnancy and I'm carrying very compactly in comparison with my others whom I had extra fluid with so perhaps it's why I'm feeling things differently but I've been having on and off sharp and period like, stitch sort of pains in my lower abdomen. Baby is moving. Placenta is anterior so not felt as easily as with others but definitely having regular kicks. I'm wondering if I should get these pains checked or it's just stretching (should it be so sharp and for 15 min periods at a time though?) can you get braxton hicks this early? I'm thinking it'll be OK but I barely see midwife in this pregnancy as they say they only see first time mums regularly. I've not got an appointment with mine until 32 weeks now?! Thanks in advance for advice x

I got braxton hicks from 18 weeks til birth

I’d call your maternity unit for advice

I get the same sharp pains as you describe. I get them when I'm sitting still, lying in bed or walking and they can last for ages. Feels like a muscle spasm or cramp and really hurts when I try stretch it out so I end up standing doubled over till it passes.

I'm not sure what it is, I thought it was round ligament pain but after googling that type of pain is meant to only last a couple of seconds so I'm going to ask my consultant when I see him next.

I had it throughout my last pregnancy too without any complications related to it so I assume it's not anything to worry about other than being very painful and annoying.

It is worth mentioning it to your midwife tho, especially the period like pains.
