Sleeping at 33 weeks

So I'm 33 weeks and struggling sleeping (as many of you probs are too!) so last night due to my hips hurting by sleeping on my left I found myself shifting and kind of sleeping on my front for an hour or so but once I woke I felt like I squashed my bump... if this is possible?! As it's morning I not felt much movement as this is quite normal for me. But I'm worried I could I caused an issue by sleeping on my front or am I being really stupid!? It's my first so everything I do I worry it's wrong or something has happened! I don't want to call triage midwife just yet as feel abit stupid!

Not sleeping is the worst. Only your midwife can properly reassure you. As a quick check, is your baby moving normally this morning? If so, check with your midwife. If not, call the hospital / whoever it is you've been told to call of movements slow down at this stage.

I've had exactly the same problems sleeping. I'm 36+5 now and just this week I've found a new way of propping myself up that kind of helps. Basically I'm putting the long bit of my dreamgenii on top of another pillow (or two) at my knees. That way I can have my bottom leg behind me and sort of lean towards my front, without putting weight on my bump, and take the pressure of my lower leg. Not sure if that describes it well. It's taken months of trial and error!

Thanks there has been slight movement. Although now the baby has hiccups, I know this doesn't really count as movement but I'm guessing it's good sign in a way(as they have hiccups 2/3 times a day). I will monitor the movement for an hour or so and go from there. Thanks

I'd take the hiccups as a good preliminary sign. Giving it an hour is a good plan. Drink lots of cold water and clap your hands loudly over your bump. I'm sure it'll perk up soon and everything will be fine.

@suuziief I have found myself doing exactly the same thing. I'm 34 weeks and baby keeps lying transverse at night so sleeping on either side is uncomfortable. I have found myself sort of sleeping on my front and bought this up with the midwife yesterday as I was worried i was squashing him! She reassured me he is well cushioned and as long as I can feel regular movements then not to worry (although side sleeping is recommended). I hope that helps put your mind at rest Smile
