Hi, I have dd 10, ds 8 and ds 3! I have nearly completed my first year at university on a full time course ( 1 full day 2 half days) the spare 2 days dure in the week I work part time. I have a brilliant routine and childcare and have not struggled at all. Hubby had a vasectomy in January I was on the pill but I did miss a couple. I have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant! I am in total shock. We was in agreement we had finished having children. I am at a loss and would like to know if anyone else has been in this position and managed to complete uni without having to take a year out? How have you found having a newborn while studying? I really don’t want to have a termination but I am unsure how we will cope? Any advice welcome thanks in advance.

Most universities have nurseries with them for students and staff that have children. Most are also quite relaxed with regards to if you are breastfeeding or expressing. I don't know about your university but where I work lectures are also recorded. Also you can suspend your studies for a year when you have had the baby and then return to study after. Hope that helps! And congratulations!

Hi!

I've got dc of 8 6 and 2.... we found out I was accidentally pregnant last March and considered a termination. Ultimately it has to be the decision that's right for you. I had a miscarriage and spent almost 12 months trying to get pregnant again. Post baby I'll be going back to work pt and studying for a postgraduate course the rest of the time. I've studied during most of my previous pregnancies and on return to work. It's fine but doable :) xx

Thank you, it is really crazy, one minute I feel and think yes I can do this, the next I am highly doubting everything. I suppose we manage to get through things either way. I am just really keen to finish my degree without taking time out and feel I am being selfish but I have spent the last 10 years doing nothing at all for myself and now found my self again by studying. To carry on studying it would mean a new born going into childcare and I think I would feel guilty and most likely to torture myself and my parenting on that basis. Thank you for your advice xx
