Hello,

We live on our beef farm and struggling to know what push chairs/travel system/car seat to get. We need something that is robust, can go over rough ground/fields, washable and last more than two minutes. We don't care how big/wide it is as we have the vehicles to take anything size wise, doesn't have to be town proof as we rarely venture off the farm/out of the countryside.
What do you use? Thanks xx

We had an all terrain mountain buggy. It was second hand when we got it, did three children and have now passed it on to someone else. It is robust and washable.

When my daughter was 1 we got her a bullet wagon, which she sat in , made cushions etc, and it had pneumatic tyres so was pretty useful off road where she didn't want to walk the distance. It was very sturdy and pretty difficult to tip over.
Before that I just had an ancient Silver Cross hand-me down that was robust but not good in mud, or a baby carrier. You need to look for larger than average wheels and ones you can lock rather than swivel for mud.

Not from a farming background but spent a good many hours walking dogs across the British countryside at all times of the year, we have the mothercare XTreme pushchair, it goes over and through anything! Rubber inflatable tyres that are replaceable if they get a puncture make it good over all terrain 👍 plus was only £150 in a sale 😁

We got an out n about nipper and it has survived nearly three years of walks and runs around our farm so far. Easily hosed down, comfy and very few faffy bits to go wrong.

Silver cross sleepover I’ve got a second hand one. Sturdy, solid tyres very important as we have thorn hedges and I can’t be stranded in a field with a flat tyre. Quite high up so ds is out of the way of nosey ewes. Doesn’t fold that small is fairly easy to fold but if you’ve a Land Rover or pick up it will fit in the back without folding just put the brake on.

A Mountain Buggy. If you can get a second-hand older model (made in New Zealand), they're pretty much indestructible. The new ones are still good, but the old ones were AMAZING.

We aren’t farmers but do live rurally and often walk a couple of miles to the village across the fields. We have an Out N About Nipper Sport (we’re also keen runners) which is perfect for tricky terrain. FWIW they take the same inner tube as a kids bike so are cheap and easy to replace if you get a puncture. I do find the sling easier for some of the footpaths though.
