So I've got another scan tomorrow to see if the sac is still empty if it is I'll be given my choices.

  1. Wait it out to miscarry naturally
  2. Be given drugs to start it off
  3. Surgery to remove the pregnancy

I'm leaning more towards the surgery but it's a bit of a faff.

I'll have to find childcare.

Dh will have to take the day off work to come with me.

Then there's the recovery.

What would you choose?
Anyone had to make this choice, what did you do?

I chose option 2. As have most people I know in the same position. I didn't want to wait for the natural way as it hadn't happened in four weeks and I'm glad I went down the route I did. Sorry you're going through this, it's not much fun I know x

There’s no right or wrong answer, you have to decide what’s best for you. How far are you?

  1. Waiting can be better for your body but can be a total utter headfuck. When it happens it can be painful and distressing (though not always I suppose). If you end up waiting more than a couple of weeks they’ll have you back in hospital for 2 or 3 anyway.
  2. Medical management is less invasive than surgery but forcing it to happen quickly can be physically painful. They give you cardboard pots to put over the toilet. That can be incredibly stressful. Also, it can fail and you’ll need surgery or to try again
  3. Surgery has the advantage of being quick, planned and you don’t have to see anything or wait for the unknown. However, it can cause problems like adhesions in the future and all surgery carries risks. I opted for surgery this time, but there was a five day wait and I mc “naturally” during that time. This probably happens quite often.
Hope you can make a decision you are comfortable with, and I’m SO sorry you have to go through this.

Do they offer AMA? It’s similar to the surgical option but with local anesthetic. Apparently more painful but it can be booked in quickly rather than waiting a few weeks for the surgical option.

Thanks ladies, my scan last week measured the sac at 6+5 I know before even going tomorrow that nothing would of changed. I've got no symptoms and just feel normal. I've been losing brown blood for a week and this morning I woke up feeling sick and had to throw up. When I wiped there was a little bit of red blood and I've got quite painful cramps right now. The reason why I'm leaning more towards the op is because I miscarried 15 years ago and hemorrhaged really badly and had to have blood transfusions it was horrific, so don't want the same to happen again.

@Jackshouse no they don't do that here
