Pregnancy insomnia

Any tips on how to deal with it? I can drop off for maybe 2 hours but then I'm awake and unsettled. I've tried to relax before bed and wind down. The only thing that has helped is bath bombs from Lush, but I can't afford £4 several times a week to help me sleep.

I watched a lot of Scandinavian crime drama in the dark. I found reading the subtitles tired me out and I'd fall asleep, sometimes. Generally I just huffed around the house.

I certainly haven't tried watching subtitled shows so will give that a go. This morning I was considering going and cleaning downstairs at 3am but decided against it.

I’m exactly the same, drop off to sleep fine and awake within a few hours and can’t sleep the rest of the night! There have been occasions I’ve considered doing cleaning but I live in a bungalow with dh & 3 other dc’s so it wouldn’t be practical for me 😞 I just lay there tossing and turning and then after several hours of being awake I end up on my phone lol

Not helpful, but they say it is to prepare you for life with a newborn! Wink

I’m the same ! Fall asleep around 10pm wake up at 1am as bladder is bursting fall asleep until 4am, pee again and then on and off sleeping until work alarm goes off! And yes I thought that it’s hormones training us for motherhood 😬 I was going try lavender sleep spray for pillow, sometimes listening to relaxing music on phone maybe? I find a hot water bottle soothing too xxx

Do you take preg vitamins I’m convinced mine gave me insomnia from an overload of vitamin maybe . I’ve stopped them now an sleep much better still get up to pee though

Sometimes I found going down and eating a couple of slices of bread and butter or something would help (although sometimes that just set off the heartburn...)

Oh listening to podcasts can help when I have just normal can’t-get-to-sleep ness, although I’ve got to say the pregnancy insomnia was something different - really wide awakeness. Still, at least with podcasts you can keep yourself entertained but rest your eyes/body a bit at the same time.
