33 weeks pregnant, it might be in my head.
I slept really well last night, first time in weeks, got down and was sitting kind of funny and had this weird moment thinking around how I slept well and put my hand in my belly and it felt soft.
Like I was just fat and not pregnant, had a really panicky feeling and had to stand up and check the baby was still in there, he is, obviously.
But my bump feels softer and smaller than it has done. Baby is still kicking and moving regularly, but I'm feeling a bit worried.
Can't work out if I'm going insane because what normal person has to check the baby is still in there?

Baby may have moved position which is why you slept better last night, i.e. maybe he was in a more awkward position before and that’s why you’ve been uncomfortable at night? If you are worried please go in for monitoring. I promise you won’t be a burden to them!

Any update @MsHopey? Hope you’re ok.

TableforJane · 12/03/2019 13:47

I’ve had the same thought at times, don’t worry that you’re insane! It probably is just baby’s position. As long they are moving as normal, I doubt it’s anything to worry about.

Got a whole afternoon of scans, clinic, consultant etc tomorrow.
Hes still kicking lots so I'm going to wait to see what they say tomorrow.
Husband thinks I'm mad and that bump looks the same.
They'll pick up on something tomorrow or theres anything wrong.

Possible the baby has turned breech. It can feel very different. Never be worried about getting checked out.

Bellafreud · 12/03/2019 18:51

Baby could also have turned so his/her back is against your back with arms/legs facing front which makes bump squashy. It happens to me from time to time and at 33 weeks you’ve still got some room for baby to move around in. I’m 36 Weeks - half an hour ago I had what felt like bum wedged under my ribs, now baby has turned and bump is all squashy so I think gone back to back.

Update:
Baby was head down at my last scan and I'm sure I could feel where his bum was sticking out (same as previous pregnancy) which has always been the hardest part of my bump.
Today's scan has revealed hes flipped back round and is now breech and also has his feet by his face and his bum down.
So I'm not mad, but baby has got to be uncomfy!

Thanks for the update! That’s interesting that baby has flipped. I’m also 33w and baby has been head down for weeks, I asked my MW if the baby would stay there and she said yes as the head is the heaviest part.

Have they said what the plan is for you now?

MsHopey · 14/03/2019 10:25

I had a c section with my first so I've got an elective planned for this one (25th April) and my consultant/surgeon wasn't bothered about baby being breech because of the c section.
I'm quite relieved I already have a c section planned because the pressure is off about getting baby to turn.
They didn't express any concerns at all but I've done a bit of research and I'm a little bit worried about babies hips and legs when he comes out.

That's the exact position my dd1 was in, it's called extended breech, except she was like that for the whole pregnancy, so I also had an elective caesarean. All her scans pics are her face with feet either side! She's nearly 9 now, so this was a while ago, but she had a hip scan at around 6 weeks I think, and one of the joints was a bit shallow, but on a later scan all was fine, and no problems since.
