I would ring the dentist and double check. I needed some dental work when I was pregnant. They dentist told me it was safe to do so, however, being a worrier I waited. Also I was very sick so didn't like the idea of someone's hands in my mouth (that was the excuse I gave for putting it of )

I recently had the largest tooth in my mouth removed, I was 25 weeks pregnant so yes it’s definitely safe for baby. Unless your anxiety is through the roof then obviously it wouldn’t be worth it. My pain was so bad I couldn’t wait to get it out xx

Tell your dentist as they won't do X-rays on you if you're pregnant and there may be other stuff they'd prefer not to do.

No, this tooth pain is giving me anxiety. I'd much rather have the work done. I have a chipped tooth with the root showing that i think is infected- i wouldn't be opposed to pulling it.
I just want to make sure that getting oral shots for numbing etc would be okay.

Thanks ladies!

I had a tooth removed on New Year's Eve last year at 38 weeks pregnant, I begged them to do it as the emergency dentist had packed a filling too high the week before and I was in agony constantly, they said they could do X-rays and root canal if I waited for the baby to arrive but I said I couldn't manage labour with the pain from my tooth so they pulled it out, I could have kissed the dentist!

I had a emergency tooth extraction under local anaesthetic when I was 13 weeks pregnant. I had a mouth X-ray too. The dentist was happy to carry out the procedure as long as I was out of the first trimester, which I was. I didn't suffer any backlash and had a healthy baby. Dentist said they don't perform procedures such as that unless in you are in the second trimester.

Oh I had 2 X-rays to and antibiotics...best thing I ever had done having it out, the amount of painkillers I was taking for the pain was ridiculous!! Hope you get it sorted x

Absolutely fine. I had a filling done at 24 weeks.

Not dental but I think it was worse... i had minor abdominal surgery without realising I was pregnant. Luckily, local anesthetic is harmless (I had mine injected into my belly button!). I think it's just x-rays they have to be careful with.

I was booked in for a filling/root canal under sedation and have since found out I'm pregnant. My dentist has said they can still carry out the work under sedation but needs to be at a specialist clinic (I have such bad dental anxiety I don't feel able to just have a local because of the possible root canal part) so I'd assume it's okay? Just be honest with the dentist, including your worries and I'm sure they can help :)
