Hi everyone. My baby is breech and has been for a good few weeks. His head is wedged between my ribs and it is so uncomfortable! Has anyone had any success with any of the techniques? I tried the breech tilt and was nearly suffocated by my breasts😳 any tips appreciated! Also experiences of ecv.
Thanks

I had ECV nearly 5 yrs ago, wasn’t successful & made me very anxious. Wasn’t exactly painful but they had just one, short go & I couldn’t tolerate it & baby wasn’t going anywhere.

Was booked in for c-section next day & it was fab, very calm & I had great recovery.

Due again soon, I personally wouldn’t try another ECV.

Best of luck to you Smile

Have you looked on the spinning babies website? No experience myself but it’s meant to be excellent.

I did ECV, baby didn't budge. It was uncomfortable and didn't work, not sure I would bother again. I religiously the spinning babies exercises from 37 weeks, didn't make a difference. I had done hypnobirthing which was rubbish as it did not prepare me for any intervention and made me feel like a section was a failure. I think if your baby doesn't want to move, they won't budge!

Tried for vaginal breech delivery with full support of hospital, got EMCS when baby got stuck and distressed. Should have gone for elective section. Section itself was lovely and calm, I shouldn't have put myself or my baby through labour, to be honest.

Be aware that breech births are all or nothing, if you do decide for a vaginal delivery - very quick or nothing happens for days.

Tried basically spending a solid week on hands and knees with my head on the floor. Didn't work. Had ECV - also didn't work, though wasn't painful, just didn't work and was worth a shot. Judging by what the surgeon said trying to get him out during ELCS a week later, his pelvis was properly wedged in mine. Head under my ribs, like yours.
I was completely bricking it about the CS, but it was absolutely fine. There are ways to make it seem a bit less out of your control, if you like. Please do ask if you want pointers.

Breech babies when born via ECS are absolutely beautiful because they didn't have to squash through the birth canal. Your baby is clearly totally chilled out in that position, so I suggest you chill out too and have a nice peaceful ECS. Good luck!

My tip? Accept that baby is breech for a reason. I was offered ECV but declined. So glad I did,had a lovely experience with elective C-section and was told that they had never seen such a short umbilical cord and that could have caused issues if we had persued the ECV,plus there was no way she would have turned anyway. I was really worried about the section but it really was a calm and lovely experience (far more so than with my emergency section with DC2!)

reflexology is worth a try for the rib pain. I’ve just had a breech baby, she was also stuck in my ribs which was so painful! I told the reflexologist about the pain and she focused the session on ribs and diaphragm to see if that would make the baby move, it worked - baby stayed breech but moved into a lower position off my ribs making the rest of the pregnancy pain free xx

Another nice thing about breech babies is that when you're dancing, the baby is the right way up and doesn't get disco dizzy.
