23weeks - no movement today

I have an anterior placenta, so didn't feel my first kicks till about 2 weeks ago. Since then I've had strong days with lots of movement (yesterday was one of these) and weak days with nothing, but one or two when I get into bed in the evening.

Today I've had nothing definite and a bit worried. I just had some sugar and a glass of cold water, now lying down (on my back with propped up shoulders) Thought I felt one but so weak I'm not sure. Should I panic or is it ok to have days or nothing - I know I'm still quite early on.

Any other tips to get her moving?

Lie on your left hand side.

If you're worried, phone the midwives. They won't do much at this stage other than perhaps listen for a heartbeat, but sometimes a little reassurance goes a long way.

Thanks - trying that side now. Not sure if I should just try to get some sleep and book a midwife appointment tomorrow morning or if I should stay up and go to hospital if nothing happens. I'm a very anxious and paranoid person and don't want to overreact as I know it's early days

I too had an anterior placenta and didn't feel 'kicks' as such, more like rolls from side to side with the odd 'bump' up front but nothing like friends without anterior placenta.

If you are worried at all then ring the pregnancy assessment unit who will be happy to advise you, they are the experts and better to be safe than sorry. Please try not to worry too much but just contact them for piece of kind, it's what they are there for. I did and they just monitored baby for a little while until they were happy and then I got sent home - I had a healthy baby xx

I would totally advise calling the triage number on the front of your notes - I don't think you should wait overnight. It's what they're there for and I've always found them to be lovely x

I second the lie on your left side after sugar and cold drink. See if that helps. I have learned that my baby is super active some days and then less so on others - sounds like it takes after its mother.

If you still get no joy then I agree with just phoning triage for reassurance. Although I do think they say not to worry too much about patterns etc until week 26? Or am I making that up?

Call the hospital on the number on your notes, better safe than sorry.

Call.your midwife/triage number on your notes. My midwife told me they would rather deal with 100 false alarms than not be called.

Thank you all. Called the midwife and ended up going in. Heartbeat was ok - such a relief. Have been so impressed by the nhs care.
