We've got a holiday booked in Southern France in the summer holidays at which time I'll be 32 weeks pregnant (33 weeks on the way back) - we'll be travelling by car and Ferry... Is it mad to still plan to go?

Nope. We've just booked a BA flight and trip to Naples and I'll be 31 weeks!

Main aim is one last trip just us two and we are used to lots of walking but will this time take buses!

Not.mad. I went to Marseille for a week at 33 weeks. Had a Great time - just take your maternity notes!

And I went to Germany for work at 35 weeks - no issues there either

It did it at 34 weeks. Car and ferry.

Take your notes with you and wear a baggy top when you board the ferry in case you get a jobsworth who tries to make a fuss

You may need to stop more to pee 😂

AuntieMaggie · 10/03/2019 07:48

Ha ha Bellafreud - I did think that!

If it's any help, French pregnancies are considered to be 41 weeks, so you're not as close to your due date as you think Grin

Have a great time!!

Obviously you will need travel insurance that covers both you and your unborn child, in case they become a born child at an inappropriate moment. I believe Ravenhall are the company of choice for this.

Check the info with your ferry company. We've booked to go to Normandy when I'll be 34 weeks with Brittany ferries (we didn't know at the time) and they won't let you travel if you are over 32 weeks so we are going to have to switch to the channel tunnel instead.
We are just going to plan in extra stops and make sure we have insurance to cover us.

Definitely make sure you have watertight travel insurance. (Remember your EHIC won't be valid anymore.)

I saw that with Brittany ferries - will have to look into other options as I'll be 32 weeks on the way out!

And I'll check my travel insurance too thanks.
