Help - Piles in Pregnancy!

I'm 31 weeks and never suffered with piles in my pregnancies or life before. I've been a bit constipated throughout but not too bad. However every time I sit on the loo even just for a wee I get loads of pressure down there...anyway, yesterday I felt something sore down there. After some self diagnosis with the help of Google I'm thinking it's definitely a pile (maybe the first of many 🙈). At the moment it's about the size of a small Malteaser (maybe smaller!). I've tried pushing it back in, as advised but that irritated it and made it hurt more. I've read that it's really common, so hoping some people on here can tell me what treatment they've used? What can you buy over the counter? I can't get to the GP until Thursday and also don't really want to waste NHS time if theres no real treatment. Thanks

Oh the pregnancy glamour! I found anusol suppositories and germaloids wipes really helped.

Honestly, so glamorous. Thanks I'll take a look! X

Yep I've had them for a few weeks now, was using anusol cream to begin with and paracetamol as it was so sore, then one day I stopped using the cream as I had an appointment,(didn't want cream everywhere incase I needed an examination) and not used it since. although they are still there they have calmed down and hurt as much, don't get me wrong as they are def still there but I think I was aggrivating them more by using cream all the time!! Now I'm just mindful when I need the loo and carefull how I wipe. I've been assured by my midwife that they will sort themselves out once the baby is out xx

Mine have only just calmed down but they've been horrendous! I had them earlier in my pregnancy when I was constipated but this time they just popped up from nowhere and were so sore!
I used anusol cream every time I went to the toilet, even if it was just for a wee. The cream seemed to help mine alot. Also put some water in the bottom of the bath with epsom salts and sat in it for around 20 minutes just to try and soothe the pain. Seemed to work 😊
Few nights ago they were so painful, next morning I woke up with blood everywhere so I think the pressure had burst them and it now feels amazing 😂 I can squeeze my bum cheeks together again if I want 😂🙈
However not looking forward to after birth as I'm sure they will probably return after all the pressure.
Good luck hun I really sympathise with you, they can be so painful.
P.s get some moist toilet wipes to use after number 2 rather than using toilet paper

Feeling really stressed that this is just the start and they're going to get a lot worse?! I'm worried when I go into labour I'll end up with what looks like a bunch of grapes down there from all the pushing?! And that they might pop?! Seriously this baby better be cute 😂

I had really sore piles in late pregnancy, was horrendous. I used anusol suppositories and cream and it didn’t work much at all.

However the piles disappeared once I’d given birth, they did not get worse or anything due to the birth. Thankfully.

Tell the midwife maybe she’ll prescribe something?

The things we go through to have our babies hey 😂😂

Babyno2mamabear · 09/03/2019 20:14

Glad to hear they didn't get worse in delivery! I'm seeing the midwife Friday so will mention it then! It's not getting in the way of day to day life, I went for a no2 today without much pain...but yeah, I don't want them to get really really bad!!! I know I know, the men seriously have it easy!!!

Hemorrhoids are found near the anus and lower rectum swollen blood vessels. During pregnancy, to ease the discomfort of hemorrhoids:

• Use warm water to fill the tub and soak the affected area. Don't put in the water soap or bubble bath.
• Do not sit for long periods of time. Sitting puts pressure on the anus and rectum of the veins. Lying on your side or standing up when you can. If you need to sit down, take frequent breaks or sit on a hemorrhoid pillow, also called a ring cushion or doughnut.
• Apply medicated pads made up of witch hazel to your anal area.
