Advice on Pelvic Girdle Pain? ☹

Hi All :)

I've got PGP, i see an Osteopath twice a week and she has said that my lower back muscles aren't working as they should and so my glutes are constantly 'firing' so to speak! I don't have any back pain, but this is my second pregnancy and it's a back-to-back one so I'm assuming it's why I'm suffering!

I can't do much around the house without being in pain for the rest of the day! I get a shooting groin pain on the left and either side of my ass basically feels bruised all the time :(

I was doing lots of walking for mt 1st and 2nd tri but now since 30 weeks i just can't do more than 20 mins without pain. (34weeks now)

I've got a young baby to look after and even sitting on the floor with him to play or picking him up ends up hurting! My other half is amazing but he isn't around all day and by the evening I'm so glad to have him home to do all the bending and lifting.

It's mainly bending forwards that aggrivates it a lot for me, but I've realised that's what i do for 80% of things around the house! The osteopath says to rest etc, but i like to be cracking on with the housework and being out and about and it's sooooooo annoying i can't do it without suffering later!

Please help!
I do sleep with a pillow between my knees, i try to do less around the house. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'd like to know what helped you all!
I have my c section booked for 9th April, so not too long to go!

I had the same. I’m sorry to say nothing helped. My butt muscles were rock hard and painful too... my partner would massage the area each night with oil but it only helped temporarily.

I really feel for you - it’s grim and I didn’t have another little one to look after. Wishing you all the best- it’s so tough

@le42 ☹ thank you for sympathizing with me though! It means a lot. It is shit! X

I have it too and it’s brutal! 32 weeks pregnant, still working full time and have a 3 year old as well. It’s next to impossible to implement the advice of the physio. I do have a support belt and a tubi grip to wear which help a bit but I’m uncomfortable most of the time right now. Hugs. x

@Pleodag we feel eachothers pain!
Can i ask what support belt you use?

Hello, I'm pretty sure I also have PGP. All this time I thought it was sciatic nerve related but after reading into PGP, it's definitely that! I'm currently 32 weeks and working full time. I'm really struggling at night and when I go to bed, I can barely move myself to turn over. I have to admit I have an amazing husband who helps me with anything I need!
I haven't been diagnosed properly yet but my next midwife appointment is next week so I thought I'd mention it to her then!
Hope you're coping okay!

@purplestar9 Hello!
I'm fine if i do nothing...Unfortunately that isn't possible Sad my OH is away for 4 days this week so i know I'll be extra sore.
I feel bad for you working! :( are you on your feet a lot?

Get some help from physio/osteopath! X

@Elmo311 I'm sorry that you'll be by yourself for a few days. That must be hard.
I work in an office so I'm sat down a lot which sometimes helps but if I sit for too long it hurts too. It's trying to find the happy medium that's hard!
I've got 5 weeks left at work then I'll be on maternity :)

RainbowMum11 · 11/03/2019 22:17

I had similar - from mid-20 wis with 1st, but from really early, about 16 weeks with 2nd pg.
Everything was a struggle & I needed crutches , couldn't do anything more than absolutely necessary.
Did physio, wasn't much use, but a belly strap/belt helped a bit.

Take a tennis ball and put it between your bum and a wall and use it to massage.
Take very deep slow breaths imagining your outbreath can relax your glutes.
