Best maternity pads?

I'm getting everything sorted for the birth of my second baby. I can't for life of me remember what I used last time for maternity pads and which ones were the best. I remember some of them were really bulky and uncomfortable. Can anyone recommend the most comfy ones please.

I bought Tesco ultra slim ones, their own brand. They are like sanitary pads but longer. I found them most comfortable.

I found the Tena pads great. Really soft compared to traditional maternity pads. They were nice and big and didn’t hurt when very sore. My dh picked them up as the chemist had no traditional maternity pads and I used them continually then.

Boots maternity pads are lovely. Really thick and cushiony

QueenAnneBoleyn · 07/03/2019 12:17

Tesco were the best I found.

I'm 3 weeks PP and for the heaviest days I used either Bodyform night sanitary towels, or Always Night! Just slightly longer and found them way comfier then maternity pads!

I recently had my third and for the first week I wore Tena Lady disposable knickers with a Boots pad inside. The pad provided a comfortable cushion and the pants ensured there were no leaks.

Another vote for the boots ones. Ordinarily I would absolutely hate something so thick but after birth I welcomed the extra cushioning! Once the worst of the bleeding has passed I switched to a regular sanitary towel.

Thanks for the responses. I think I had the tesco ones last time and they were good. Then moved onto always. Will give tescos a bash again.

I intend to use Natracare (available online) because they are 100% cotton as opposed to shop bought ones that are mainly plastic. I get awful rash if I use brands like Always etc. Natracare are more expensive, but worth it. I have used their products for years. And they are 100% biodegradable.
I promise I have no shares in the company :-) I just love their products

I bought Mothercare ones - some old school brick shaped and some slimmer. It was all I could get. Not used them yet so can't comment.

cherrryontop · 09/03/2019 01:35

Tesco slim ones after the initial flooding stopped.

First few days it had to be the big fat ones 🙁

Celebelly · 09/03/2019 02:22

Natracare ones were great. Really soft and worth paying for for at least the first few days.

shutupyoueejit · 09/03/2019 02:58

Boots own brand. Thick and cushiony which was definitely needed.
I also wish I'd have bought some disposable knickers/ nappies for adults! The first day or so while in hospital I had big thick pads on which were great, but when getting in/out of bed - I leaked everywhere and this would have avoided that quite easily.

Lizbiz89 · 09/03/2019 17:55

Thanks! I think I might buy some tena ladies pants now it's been mentioned. I remember having some serious leaks the first few days after having dd.

Another vote for boots maternity pads and I just got some cheap big knickers from Primark rather than those horrible disposable ones

Tobebythesea · 09/03/2019 18:59

Same as Slowmovingtraffic. Boots ones are great.

Samind · 09/03/2019 19:02

I used kodex ones. Some others made me really sore. The joys 😂

Cab1nfever · 09/03/2019 19:12

The Boots own brand were great. Often on a deal, get the thick ones to begin with and then switch to the thin. I would also go with the horrendous mesh knickers you can get from Jojo, Amazon etc, if there's any chance of a c section, they were a comfy life saver when bloated and sore. Hope everything goes well!

Dyingforchocolate · 09/03/2019 19:14

Another vote for the boots ones. They are regularly on a deal like 3 for 2.

YoloTF · 09/03/2019 20:22

Boots own brand here too
