I am mortified. I work with children and have two of my own and someone somewhere along the line has shared thread worms with me.

I am also 10 weeks pregnant. Been to see the GP today and the best she could offer me was an anti-histamine to make me sleepy as I’ve slept so badly this week.

So, apart from rigorous cleaning, what are your top tips to kill them!

Mine was definitely finished off by me getting the squits. It was definitely helped with the vaseline though. When it got unbearable in the night I’d have a good scratch with toilet roll (like just wiping after a poo but really thoroughly). They’d be worms stuck in the Vaseline trap which would be removed with the toilet roll which is wonderfully disgusting. I’d then reapply the Vaseline and repeat throughout the night. Washing hands very thoroughly and being very careful not to get the wiping paper anywhere near my fanny. I’m not sure if you can get fanny worms but the thought of it gave me nightmares.

I hope you get a good sleep tonight OP

DC1 has had them twice & shared the little fuckers with me. I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant & have been on 'worm watch' from the start out of sheer paranoia Confused

I promised the next time it happens I will burn everything... and I think I probably will!

Sorry, no helpful advice just sympathy for the inconvenience that are the wriggly bastards

We've just had it. Well, my sons definitely. I couldn't take the meds as I'm bf. We've all been showering every morning, washing the pjs and sheets every day for 2 weeks, now just pjs and changing sheets every week. Hoovering rooms, cleaning bathrooms, antibac all door handles and light switches and change towels every day. All excess pillows, duvets and cuddly toys have been stored until 6 weeks is up.
I'm adding raw garlic to meals just before serving like spaghetti bolognese, chilli, pizza, salad dressing.

As a kid my mum always said they didn't like soap down there and leave a bit of soap after washing but I've used antibac hand wash (don't actually use non antibac soap in the house as an adult). As the worms apparently only lay eggs on the outside at night using antibac before bed and after should work - I must admit as soon as I realised as an adult inhad them I went straight to boots which worked a treat - they're awful and i thought 'How awful it must be if I was pregnant' recently.

Could you use something herbal? Herbal Pet Supplies do products for people and animals that flush out worms.

Pumpkin seeds or diamatecous earth would also get rid of the wee blighters.
