Hi guys, please bear with me, I'm going to try and keep this short and straight to the point.....

I've had my first consultant appointment this afternoon, first for this current pregnancy anyways.

It has become apparent that during my last section (my 3rd section) it was discovered that the scar of my uterus was actually opening by itself and it could have been a very life or death situation had it come apart any more.
I've been told today that when my 36week scan comes around they will be looking at giving me steroid injections and delivering baby early, they are definitely not letting me go to 39weeks.

I'm just wondering has anyone else had uterus problems from previous sections and gone on to have successful c-sections later on and also what is the deal with steroid injections? How do they affect you? I know they help to develop the babies lungs but do the affected Mum in anyway?
Any previous stories, help, advice etc will be welcomed and appreciated 😊
Thanks in advance xxx

Hey, that sounds stressful; I'm sorry you're going through that. i cant help with the uterous question but my last baby arrived at 29 weeks so I was given sterroids then and im now 29 weeks with my second and was given sterroids last week as a precaution. They do hurt when you get them but it fades quickly. They are usually given 12-24 hours apart and in the top of your bum. The first time I had them my blood pressure dropped dramatically but I've since had other injections that have done this so I don't think it was the sterroids; more the way they were administered. This pregnancy I didn't react at all at the time. They can cause your heart rate to increase and insomina which can last 24 hours or so.
They make a real difference to baby's lung development though so are well worth having.
For what it's worth 36 weeks is a really good gestation and your baby will likely be absolutly fine, just a wee bit small.
Sending lots of positive thoughts x

That's exactly what I keep thinking. 36 weeks is near full term so I'm not overly worried in that sense. It is more the risk or possibility of the uterus rupturing but I'm hoping that with all the careful monitoring that they will be doing plus the signs they have already told me to look out for, everything will be ok. I know that it is in both mine and the babies best interest to deliver earlier rather than later, and like you say, 36 weeks isn't a bad gestation to be born at all.
I know all I can do is take care and stay healthy but it is sometimes good to hear other people's stories, experiences and advice just to give me that all round perspective on everything 😊 XX

Thank you for your reply @KateTTC123. Wishing you and your unborn little one a very healthy rest of your pregnancy FlowersFlowers

I can’t help with the uterus bits either but I had a steroid injection as a precuation last week and as PP said, it’s hurts for a bit but ok about 5 mins later, I had mine 24 hours apart, 1 in each arm.
Mine made me really flushed in the face and chest and disrupted my sleep (but that’s pretty crap atm anyway tbh!). It also made my baby sleepy for 24hours after both the 1st and the 2nd injection so made me panic about movements. I did end up going in for monitoring because I was worried but by the next day baby was discoing again!
