Breastfeeding second time round

Hiya

My babies not due for a while but I'm curious if breastfeeding will be easier/the same as my previous breastfed baby.

It took a few days to settle originally and I always had lots of milk (baby didn't loose any weight at beginning!)

Will it be the same this time round? I breastfed for 8 months and loved it. I'm hoping it will be the same/if not easier this time! If I produced lots of milk last time will it be the same this time round?

Any experience would be greatly appreciated :)

Tia :)

Congratulations! For me it was way easier. Different but easier and I managed for a year rather than the 4 months with DS.

You’ll be the same, if anything have more milk. The baby however could be different - tongue tie, fussy, reflux, allergies. But you are an experience BFing mum, you’ll know if something isn’t right.

Good luck.

I breastfed DC1 successfully, DC2 had a tongue tie so it was hard work until it was snipped at 3 weeks. However, because I'd fed before I identified there was a problem immediately and got help quickly - I'm still feeding her now at 2 years 4 months. Having feeding experience meant I also knew about tricks I could use to help her feed, which I think helped us get over her early weight gain issues faster than we would have done otherwise as well.

It was def easier for me, first time around I did suffer with engorgement from time to time and I used to use a hot flannel to help, second time around it all went swimmingly with no issues at all.
I fed for 2 years first and 3 years 2nd time. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Well i thought it would be easier but nope. Though dd was jaundiced and mw advised top ups, which i think was the main problem. Hope to bf these 2 if i can, and will not be making that mistake again.

Way way easier with DD2. DD1 took 3.5 weeks to get to birth weight, including mastitis for me and a full on regime of feeding every 2hrs day and night, with some feeds taking an hour. All sorts of nipple pain issues for the whole time I fed (23 months).

DD2 popped out (almost literally), latched on first time, didn’t drop her birth weight at all and fed far more efficiently. No mastitis or nipple weirdness at all (bit sore in early days). Still feeding at 25 months.

I think it was perhaps partly me knowing what I was doing, partly my body knowing and partly luck.

Best of luck to you.
