Morning all

I have just had to phone in work sick as i am really struggling to move around today and am half dragging one leg behind me

I am 13 weeks with dc5 and have had spd more than once previously but was not expecting it so bad so soon

I have a support belt and was prescribed 8 mg cocodomal two weeks ago but these are not even helping now

I have a fairly physical job requiring me to sit down (on the floor) and stand up multiple times per hour. Also some lifting involved and long hours. I also have a one hour commute each way.

I have recently requested shorter hours but i dont even know how much that will help me now

Any advice welcome?

Oh no decaf! Have you had a physio referral? It sounds hellish.

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/03/2019 13:03

Have you had a health & safety assessment at work? And have you spoken to HR? There should be amendments they can make to allow you to keep working.

physicskate · 06/03/2019 13:31

@IVEgottheDECAF that's what I was told too. But keep ringing for cancellations. Apparently loads of people cancel.

RandomMess · 06/03/2019 13:46

The only decent treatment is rest, rest and more rest you need to be signed off. Ice pack of frozen peas too.

My osteopath was amazing and made a huge difference but the more rest the better. You are risking life long problems if you don't take this very seriously.

It is only a small company i work for. No risk assessment has been done and i told them about 4 weeks ago. I mainly just get ignored tbh.

Get signed off sick urgently (because you are making it worse by the hour) hopefully they will crack on with a risk assessment as you can't return without it being done!

I am at the gp today, she tends to be very unsympathetic though so i do not hold out much hope

I am suffering the same thing, started really early this time which was a shock. Been at physio for 8 weeks now.giant tubagrip, support belt and crutches but the only thing that helps is to do absolutely F all - total rest.

I was at the gp 2 weeks ago, wouldn't help
at all so I made another appointment straight away with a different gp who took one look at me and signed me off straight away. 2 weeks only, on day 3 so far and already the pain has halved just by resting.

Good luck at the gp and fingers crossed you get what you need. If you don't don't be scared to keep going back

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/03/2019 14:20

I did go to the gp two weeks ago and she just told me to refer for physio and that i could self cert but to be careful i dont loose my job!

Look up the NICE guidelines see what they say? Hopefully about needing rest!

Modestandatinybitsexy · 06/03/2019 15:39

@IVEgottheDECAF what did the gp say? If work can't make changes for you you'll need to be signed off. It's time to look after yourself, it's only going to get worse otherwise.

I feel for you spd can be awful! I hope your gp helps you out.

IVEgottheDECAF · 06/03/2019 18:36

Have to self cert for a week and rest, take pain killers. Go back next week if no better

Look at the pelvic pain partnership and the Stickmum campaign. Our NHS physio did not have the required skill set for the manual manipulation I needed. I refused to be referred to them and insisted on a referral under the any qualified provider scheme to someone who could help.

RandomMess · 06/03/2019 18:44

Remember the frozen pea ice pack on your pubic bone it does help!

Please see if you can find an osteopath locally I went in on crutches and then didn't need them anymore Thanks
