My daughter constantly calls me an older Mum and never lets me forget it. I was pregnant at 28 and had her at 29.

I'm afraid your daughter is deluded... how old is she? To a 10 year old, late 20s would seem 'old'. Have you looked at average ages for first time mothers in the uk?

Confused

old, old !!, blimey don't know what your daughter would make of me -| was 36 when I had Ds1 and 41 with DS2 (and yes I did get mistaken for his grandma). In my book over 45 is an older mother.

Rozy02 · 05/03/2019 20:00

I agree. I had my 1st at 19 and her at just 29 but she consistently tells me I am an older Mother. Quite annoying.

She's 29 sorry forget to put her age

Medically over 35 is considered to be an older mother.

PolarBearDisguisedAsAPenguin · 05/03/2019 20:07

Three decades ago you probably were an older mother but times have changed and you wouldn’t be considered one now.

Rozy02 · 05/03/2019 20:11

Thanks.

I'm 32...and I think the youngest person I know who's had a baby was 29?! Most of my friends had kids in their 30s.

WoahThereMama · 05/03/2019 20:16

I’d consider 29 to be quite a young mum. As she is also 29, does she have any kids? If so, what age did she have them at?

Rozy02 · 05/03/2019 20:18

Exactly seems the average now, I'm quite fit and healthy but just get a lot of criticism from her for being an older Mum! Drives me insane !

My mum had me at 30. I'm 34 and mum will be 65 this year. She is not old. A lot of my friends mum's are 60 or a bit over. My dear mum in law if still alive would be 63 this year. I has ds at 28. Looks like I will be ancient too when ds is grown up!

Rozy02 · 05/03/2019 20:21

She's 29 herself two kids 9and 4. Two of her mates just had kids at 30. Sorry forgot to put it in before.

Had a baby last year at 41. Always feel old when go to baby groups. But certainly didn't 10 years ago when had dd1

Weird attempt at trolling?

PBobs · 05/03/2019 21:37

Either this is trolling or the weirdest stealth boast I've ever read.

Rememberallball · 05/03/2019 21:51

Pregnant with IVF twins at 47 here (will be 3 months off 48 when they arrive) - you should ask her what her description of me would be!!

P.S. - I’m already expecting to be called geriatric by medical professionals so she can’t insult me with her answer!!

notacooldad · 05/03/2019 22:02

I wouldn't but I think that is down to local demographics and what I used to seeing and dealing with through work.

TwoRoundabouts · 05/03/2019 22:59

My mum had me at 43, I had my DD when I was 43 and my sister had her DC at 45. My mum had friends who had children in their late 40s and I had friends at school whose mothers had children at 47-49. However it's only my sister and me who are weird as we only have one child.
