Hi OP

It’s horrible isn’t it? I’ve suffered with it throughout my pregnancy. Firstly, have you spoke to your GP about the bleeding? It’s likely piles but I’d get that checked ASAP and they can prescribe some cream if it’s that.

Constipation side - I’ve found that certain foods can help however, I’m on ondansetron for sickness which blocks you up more - so I use movicol and lactulose to help me ‘go’ are you on any meds which could be contributing to the constipation? I.e iron, sickness tablets etc?

Food wise, prunes, apricots and apples are all good. Oats are also good. Drinking water like medicine helps too, literally you want to drink as much as possible it helps soften things.

As I mentioned medication wise movicol/lactulose/CosmoCol and laxido are all safe to take during pregnancy & you can buy over the counter. I have also used Glycerin suppositories (again you can get OTC) they will help soften and make you go, especially if you’ve struggled to go for a few days. The only problem is that if the ‘blockage’ isn’t lower enough, they won’t help.

And finally! I’d recommend using a stool or a ‘poop stool’ (you can buy on eBay/amazon) and that just puts you in a natural, squating like position to help you go more easily. I found baths quite comfortable too whilst constipated.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you very much for the information. I've bought a lot of fresh fruit, and veg. Especially brocolli I love that ♥️ I've also been to GP mentioned it to her and asked her advice on what to use as most things you can't use whilst pregnant, I'm using sachets that I picked up which are to do with fibre they seem to be helping a little I've managed to go to toilet, not like I usually would but more progression than in the last two days. The bleeding from back passage has eased since I've been to toilet, but now I have terrible pain in my stomach where I still have trapped wind and I'm unsure how to get rid of this. It's really taking it out of me. Xxx

Try lactulose or dulcolax to make poo soft.
Drink lots n lots of water.
Go to the doctor fro some decent pile cream. Bleeding is not normal.

Megan

I really sympathise it’s just awful, ah I forgot veg that’s good too so hopefully that will help keep you more regular too.

There are a lot of medications you can’t use so definately contact your GP, some can make your uterus contract if you are quite far along (hence the need to check!) be careful not to go too over board with fibre quite quickly, it will do the opposite (ironically) and block you up. I’d gradually up your fibre intake and continue drinking lots of water.

It might be helpful to try and keep track of your movements too, I’ve started and to be honest I think I’ll be blocked up shortly (I can already tell) but atleast I’ve got a rough idea how long it’s been.

I don’t have any advice for the trapped wind, I’ve had it painful too - I thought I was going into labour at one point! Again a nice bath or hot water bottle has atleast relaxed me when it’s the dreaded trapped wind.

Defiantly keep track of the bleeding, it does sound like piles though but they could be internal, so just keep an eye out x

I had dried fruit in my porridge every morning, I also took lactulose to help.
I had 2 cups a day of peppermint tea to help with the wind.

A glass of prune juice before bed and a pint of warm water in the morning has been working well for me. Plus a walk in the evening after dinner to get wind moving!
