Next to me crib for tall divan bed?

Really like the idea of the Chicco and similar next to me type cribs but our bed is really tall - 75cm and I'm thinking we might not be able to have one :(

Anyone else found this predicament and came up with a solution?

Watching with interest as I’m having the same dilemma

CrazyCrunk · 03/03/2019 19:59

Yes just raise it with piles of (big!) books. Or something better if you have it. It should be strapped to the bed anyway so won't wobble off.

MaltedMilk88 · 03/03/2019 20:00

I'd change our bed but we only got it last year and its so comfy!

The height is adjustable on the next to me. I remember as I needed to tilt it sometimes. The straps are long enough to secure it to a divan, too. Can you not find online what the max height says?

SleepDeprivedCabbageBrain · 03/03/2019 20:02

I’ve got a next2me if you want me to post pics or measurements

miniloco · 03/03/2019 20:24

I had the same issue! Our mattress is really deep. We bought a knuma huddle and on the highest height this was the same height as our bed Smile

Angelmiracle · 03/03/2019 20:33

The Next to Me goes to a mattress height of 58cm as far as I mind. Snuzpod 3 maximum parent mattress height of 63cm.

The only one I've seen up to 70cm is the Knuma Huddle+ but it's dearer than all the other co sleepers.

Or use planks or a raised platform that would be safe to set snuzpod on? As they're strapped to the bed.

@miniloco cross post!

Look at furniture risers on amazon

WhenDoISleep · 03/03/2019 20:37

I had a Troll bedside crib with a v tall divan bed - worked fine.

RLOU30 · 03/03/2019 20:39

I had one with a high divan and even on the highest setting it’s a good few inches off. Brought a mattress topper for the next to me crib as the original mattress is so bloody hard anyway and it makes it almost right/ not completely flush though!

RLOU30 · 03/03/2019 20:40

My above comment refers to the Chicco perhaps others like the one mentioned above goes higher ? the Chicco didn’t and mine isn’t incredibly high

Motherofcreek · 03/03/2019 20:40

Worth EVERY penny those cribs! Game changer!

Reccy2018 · 03/03/2019 20:42

We just raised ours up with two planks, it was fine

MaltedMilk88 · 03/03/2019 20:45

Thanks everyone didn’t even think of raising it from the bottom, some sort of platform / furniture riser seems the way to go!

Knuma huddle still too low but not sure I could afford it anyway..

@WhenDoISleep do you know what sleeping height it goes to? Can’t find much info on google and they don’t appear to be for sale anymore, wouldn’t be adverse to a second hand one if I could get it at the right height (with a new mattress of course!)

MaltedMilk88 · 03/03/2019 20:52

@Reccy2018 do you have the Chicco model or go with another? Planks sounds like a good idea!

You could take the wheels off the divan to lower it a couple of inches.

umberellaonesie · 03/03/2019 20:55

I just used the cheapest IKEA cot and drilled holes at the appropriate height for the bits the mattress platform sat on and used bungee cords to secure it

MaltedMilk88 · 03/03/2019 20:57

@jomalones thanks but we don’t have wheels on our divan. We put 25mm wooden feet on it just literally enough to raise it off the floor when we got it - more aesthetically pleasing. We only got a divan for the storage element at the time the drawers are really deep!

I don't I'm afraid as it's been a few years since I had it - the top of my mattress is 65cm from the floor if that helps (and I think there were a couple more height adjustments available). I loved having DS2 in it (had something else for DS1) and he slept in it at night until he was 1.

LittleKitty1985 · 03/03/2019 21:05

We had the same problem and ended up just using a standard ikea cot (with one side removed) which we adjusted to be the same height as our mattress (by drilling some extra holes - really easy)
and strapped to our divan using tie down straps. Similar to this: http://amandamedlin.com/2013/11/diy-co-sleeper-pretty-little-quilt/

DS is 4 weeks old and so far it's been fantastic. We have a basket at the unused end of the cot with nappies etc in. It worked out SO much cheaper and of course we can continue using the cot for a long time - initially adding the second side and pushing it away from the bed and then eventually moving into a separate room - we're hoping the familiarity of the cot will make the transition easier Smile

bassackwards · 03/03/2019 21:35

We had this problem. I bought the Snuzpod and it was too short to line up with our bed. I thought of making some sort of platform for the Snuzpod to sit on to raise it to the right height, but then realised that was a bad idea. In the end, I just used it as a normal cot - beside but not attached to our bed - and it was great.

littlemisscynical · 03/03/2019 21:55

We put another mattress on top of the chicco. Not quite flush but close enough.

Stroan · 03/03/2019 22:05

Had the same problem with a 90cm high bed. The only one we could find was a Troll bedside crib. It was a tiny bit lower so we added some padding under the mattress. There was a small gap because the edge of our mattress is quite rounded but by the time DD could move, she was fully in our bed anyway. I slept with my hand between her and the gap.
