It’s not a stupid question, for both of mine, we asked the midwife and they did take a pic of us three!

Lauren83 · 03/03/2019 14:51

Mine took my phone and just took loads of pictures and videos without us asking her to do it she offered and spent ages getting loads (c section so lots of people in theatre)

DH took some photos whilst I was in recovery from general anaesthesia before he got took to NICU so when I woke up I had a picture to look at until we could visit a few hours later.

Actually hated that picture for a long time as it made me sad that I never got to hold him until he was a few days old but looking back now, I'm glad DH remembered to take it.

With my first, my mum was with meyook one as soon as he was born. With the second it was me and dp and he was so busy texting his family while I was pushing DS out that he didn't take any pics and I wasn't really thinking straight. We got home the same day and took pics though.

Blurry ones immediately after birth. Then a couple more in neonatal resus as they took him for oxygen. They decided he needed more specialised care so one of the midwives took one of DH and I with him. Then DH took pictures of him in the travel incubator and then in the incubator in scbu and sent them to me because I wasn't allowed to visit yet.

How ever long it took for both to be delivered, me to be stitched up and us to be wheeled to recovery - maybe an hour old.

elliejjtiny · 03/03/2019 15:24

Ds1 - about an hour old in his moses basket. We'd just got into bed after the midwives had gone home and dh realised we didn't have any of him yet so he got up and took 2 photos.
Ds2 - 2 minutes old in my arms, him wrapped in a towel
Ds3 - same as ds2
Ds4 - being hauled out of me with a furious look on his face (c-section)
Ds5 - 1 minute old being resuscitated by a paediatrician and surrounded by worried looking people in scrubs.

Maybe 10mins after

Girlinthegarden · 03/03/2019 15:31

I had pics immediately after they were checked over. 1 EMCS and one ELCS.

It was always the surgical team who suggested it, and the anaesthetist did the pics both times so myself and DH are in them! Must be something my hospital does.

Girlinthegarden · 03/03/2019 15:32

Hadn't even finished being stitched up in the second pic!

outpinked · 03/03/2019 15:36

Seconds after they were born.

outpinked · 03/03/2019 15:37

Also I had an elective c- section last time and the very lovely anaesthetist took a family photo of us while I was being stitched up Grin. It’s a very treasured photo.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 03/03/2019 15:39

Seconds old, lying on my chest and covered in vernix, blood and all sorts.
Then another being weighed... he's quite snap happy and we were in our own living room.
In retrospect I'm happy we have these amazing pics from the first day of DD's life but if we'd discussed it before I'd probably have banned it.

SherlockSays · 03/03/2019 15:40

Pretty much as soon as she was born - we have a picture of her on the weighing scales, next picture is when she was handed to me and my legs are still in stirrups for sewing!

Worldshohohokayestmum · 03/03/2019 15:46

DD a few minutes after she was born.
DS was taken straight to NICU. DP was able to see him at a few hours old and took a couple of pictures for me to look at

PirateWeasel · 03/03/2019 16:47

A blurry shot of him on the scales taken by the trainee midwife.
