Does anyone have experience off going back to work pregnant? I would appreciate some advice
I had DS in august so he is now 6 months old and I'm 10 weeks pregnant, I'm returning part time in May (I'll be 20 weeks) and then was supposed to be going back to full time in September but I'm due then. Also a little nervous about going back pregnant, I know it happens but it is so soon after having DS

No personal experience but a friend had this happen and had to return from her first maternity leave early (when baby was 7 months old) in order to return to work long enough to be entitled to her 2nd maternity leave

It's very common.

One thing to watch out for though is that your entitlement to statutory maternity pay is calculated on what you earn between 17 -25 weeks. If you aren't going back until 20 weeks you are potentially going to reduce the money you get for the first 6 weeks of maternity leave with DC2.

I done this also a couple of years ago, I told my line manager when I was returning she advised not to officially say until 26 weeks so my hours would be agreed more favourably. I was still entitled to the same amount of pay but I get company mat pay not statutory pay but I believe it should be calculated on what you should have been paid in those weeks but sure you'll find tons of info online if you need to I anonymously called HR to ask questions when I found out as I work for a large organisation. Good luck don't stress x

congratulations! No personal experience but I agree with pp in regards to the qualifying weeks, where I work it's weeks 17-25 and if you have low pay due to part time hours you'll drastically see a difference in your next maternity pay, you might not even qualify for SMP if you don't earn enough during that time. If your work place allows kit days you could possibly use these over this period to bulk up your pay.

I did this too, went back after a years maternity already 6 months pregnant. It was absolutely fine.

Money may be a bit tight because I'll be part time, thinking going back a few weeks early if I can so I work from 17-25 weeks

I returned to work on 8th Jan this year at 7 months pregnant. Im only back to work for 8 weeks, I finish next Tuesday at 38 weeks!
I am back full time which has been tough but my son has settled in with childminder well and Ive actually been glad to be back in a way.
My maternity rights and pay will remain the same.
Not quite sure exactly what my bosses and colleagues really think but its a case of tough sh*t lol.

What everyone else said re pay, if you’re not earning or on SMP only for some of those weeks it might affect the mat pay you’d get. I’d try and go back a few weeks early and/or up your hours to maximise your SMP next time
