I’m due to give birth in a few weeks and due to circumstances and moving, I haven’t been to an antenatal class. I’m almost out of options now, as I’m being induced early, so I’m wondering if I should book a private class? Or do you think it’s ok to take the help/advice on the post natal ward and from midwife home visits?

It would be great to hear how everyone else is preparing!

Contact the place you're planning on giving birth in and ask for a tour, ask what facilities and equipment (eg water birthing pool, birthing ball, shower etc) and what pain relief options are available, and ask for information about all of these things.
Ask what you'll need to bring for labor and for the ward. Most places will give you a list.

Also, the key thing to remember about labor is that 2 hormones are at work, adrenaline and oxytocin.
Adrenaline slows things down if there's danger (or anxiety) and oxytocin speeds things up when you are as relaxed and focused as possible.

During your labor, have things that help you relax eg ask to use the shower, birthing pool. Bring your own music that will help you focus and relax. Bring essential oils you like the smell of. Move around as much as possible, find a comfortable position (mine was on the birthing ball for most of labor), and trust your body.

And remember, as long as you and baby make it, it's a successful birth.

I spent the last 2 weeks before baby came preparing a playlist of songs that made me feel empowered.
I also rested a lot, and practiced some breathing exercises.
I used gas and air throughout the labor, and walked around and rocked back and forth on an exercise ball during contractions, with my partner pushing on my back.

Think of labor like a marathon. Rest up beforehand, look up some laboring positions and how your partner can help, and try to relax as much as possible.
