Breastfeeding during pregnancy...Clueless 😯

Hi Everyone,
I just found out yesterday I am pregnant. We’ve been trying for a little while so we are very excited! My questions are about breastfeeding during pregnancy as I have an almost 18 month old DD who is still very much a boob monster!
What should I expect? Any do’s and dont’s?
My nipples are very sensitive at the moment but once she’s latched it’s fine. Just generally any experience or advice would be greatly received.
Thanks so much x

I think the problem is every woman’s experience is different.
For me I found the original latch very, very painful for the first trimester or so. But once he’d been latched a while, it was fine. And I didn’t seem to have (much?) less milk - but as he wasn’t a baby it didn’t really matter anyway even if there was a supply drop. I even had a near miss with mastitis when I was 20 weeks!
Some children will self wean during pregnancy.
I’m in 3rd tri now and I think it’s just colostrum now, which is fine. Not painful anymore. Some women get awful aversion, luckily I haven’t really.

Hi, I found the latch really painful at first too. My milk pretty much ran out by week 16 I think which has actually been handy as she’s had to learn to go to sleep without it. She was a total boob monster too but has adapted really well.

It's different for everyone. I'm 18+5 and am still bf my 1yo dd.
First trimester was fine for me but now I'm in my second trimester, my boobs are really sore so it can hurt.

Just take it as it comes and get some nipple cream if it gets too sore xx

Hi Ladies,
Thanks so much for your replies. They are all really incouraging.
If my milk does dry up I’m hoping my little one will take it ok, she will take the odd bottle of oat milk (cmpa so that’s why no cows milk) so I’m hoping if she wants something she may take that.
Currently I settle her to sleep by feeding to sleep, any advice with that? Carry on or try settling another way?
I know I’m over thinking but I suddenly feel quite bad I’m taking her milk away.
Again, really appreciate all your help!

I'm in the same boat DS is 17 months and just found out. Hoping he'll self wean but he feeds to sleep so thats going to interesting.
Also congratulations 😊

@NotSoThinLizzy
I’m hoping so aswell because I don’t really want to tandem feed. So would be great if she slowly weaned.
Also congratulations! Very exciting isn’t it x

35 weeks here and still feeding my just turned 2 year old. I’ve found that it’s been helpful to negotiate a little with her, so at bedtime now we can often manage with just 30-60 seconds on each side, counting down from 10 to 1 when I need to stop because it’s uncomfortable.

When I first found out I was pregnant again DD was still having 1 feed overnight. I did find it helpful to night wean because that middle of the night feed was making me feel really nauseous, but luckily managed that without too many tears.

My milk dried up about 16 weeks to, and my eldest was nonplussed but also unmoved. I was feeding to sleep still, and he quite happily switched to milk in a cup (With a spout) instead.
I'm 9 weeks with my third now, really hoping it goes as easily this time!
I found reading the tandem breastfeeding book really helpful, even though I wasn't sure I wanted to actually do it...
