Hey guys I’m sure this has been discussed before but honestly I’m so knackered I don’t have the energy to scroll through everything. Sorry!!

For the last 3 days I’ve been having really bad stomach cramps, pain in my inner thighs almost like the pain I get just before my period is due. I’ve also had random pains in my lower back as well.
I’ve constantly needed to do a wee way more than usual and had loose bowel movements for a couple days but now I can’t go at all since last night!

I also don’t know if part of my mucus plug cane out as I found something that looked like bogey down there. It was sticky and clear with a tinge of green but EXTRENELY small. Kinda looked like the gel that are in sanitary pads if anyone’s seen it before? It was after this when I’ve become really constipated.

I’ve got pain in my pelvic area as well and really sharp pains down there almost feels like I’m being ripped apart from the inside 😩 I don’t want to contact my midwife if it’s normal as I’m concerned start contacting her for the silliest things!

Has anyone experienced this before?
Please let me know xx

Contact your midwife. She will know if you need to be seen or not and in my experience really don’t mind being contacted even over the silliest things

Doyoumind · 26/02/2019 10:12

To me it sounds like you're in early labour. Speak to your midwife or hospital.

Bigonesmallone3 · 26/02/2019 10:13

Sounds like you are getting signs but doesn't sound like a birth is on the cards just yet..
Stay strong

Confusedg1rl · 26/02/2019 12:35

It’s weird because I don’t have much discharge anymore unless I wipe. But then again I go bathroom so often that might be why I can’t see it on my knickers anymore

And to ease the pain I have to get on all 4s and stick my bum up on the air but I can’t stay like that forever lol!!

Wish it would just get easier the closer you get to the end 😩😩

Have you spoken to someone? I was talking from experience.

Confusedg1rl · 26/02/2019 12:58

No will give them a call. Going to try a hot bath and see if it eases anything
I wouldn’t be able to get to the hospital as it’s 15miles away anyway until hubby gets home from work at 6pm (he works 2 hours away) 😩 so I’ll try that and then call them by that time hubby should be back!

What happened with you? How were you feeling?x

Definitely call your midwife. At 35+1 I felt “non-specifically unwell”. Couldn’t really explain it - I had a headache but otherwise I just felt very strange and like something wasn’t right but I thought I was being silly. My MW came round for a scheduled appointment and sent me to hospital to get checked out - within two hours of arriving my twins were born by emcs.

I wouldn’t have gone in without her pushing me to do it, and one of my sons wouldn’t be here now.

I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with you or your baby whatsoever - but if you are in labour then it’s classed as premature and it’s a good idea to get checked out. They may want to give you steroids to help your baby breathe if they are born early - I didn’t get them and both mine ended up needing support to breathe for the first few days. Even though they were only five weeks early / two weeks before full term, one had to stay in NICU for two months so don’t underestimate the potential impact of being even a few weeks early. Some babies are born at 35 weeks with no problems and can go home quickly but others do need some support.

It’s worth going and being put on a monitor at least and see if there’s anything they want to do.

SinkGirl · 26/02/2019 13:04

My local maternity unit now offers home assessments for low risk women so you may not need to go in. Alternatively if you just speak to your midwife on the phone they may be able to book an appointment at the antenatal day assessment unit for later on today, so you’re not having to wait around. Or they may think you need to be seen right now in which case you might need to pay for a taxi - not cheap for such a long distance but worth it if you need medical help. Unless there’s anyone else you know who you could ask to take you if necessary.

Either way, best to call either your midwife or your unit’s labour line if they have one. These pains are telling you that something is going on - could be early labour or could be something else but it definitely needs to be assessed by a professional. Tell the midwife you can’t get to the hospital if she suggests you go, they might have some suggestions.

TeaforTwoBiscuitOrThree · 26/02/2019 13:11

I had similar pains at around 35wks (being on hands and knees!) - it turned out they were contractions, most probably caused by fibroids (I had/have a fair few of them), I was put on a monitor for a couple of hours. It's worth getting checked over.

endofthelinefinally · 26/02/2019 13:15

That sounds like labour pain to me.
My mum didn't get past 35 weeks with any of us.
Please ring your midwife or labour ward.
Premature labour can be quick.

Confusedg1rl · 26/02/2019 13:40

I’ve called but the phone lines busy for both the triage and day assessment unit so will try again later. I’ve texted my community midwife as well

Do you guys think it could possibly be a uti? I had one couple weeks ago. Urine is really light and even though I’m constantly passing urine it isn’t like little drops when I go it’s kike a full bladders amount and that’s like every 30/40mins? Nothing stings when I go but thinking could it be a possibility 🤷🏽‍♀️

I hope you managed to speak to someone OP. To answer your question, what happened to me was that I had my baby! My symptoms were very similar to yours but my baby arrived within 24 hours of them starting.

homegrownmumma · 26/02/2019 15:57

Sounds like early labour , do you have a health centre near by ? Our health centre is where the midwives and health visitors are based and they don't mind you popping in and asking questions

Confusedg1rl · 26/02/2019 15:59

No haven’t managed to speak to anybody! I’ve called the main switchboard and they’ve said that the units must be really busy as they’ve had loads of peoples calls bouncing back to them. So they’ve taken my contact details and brief description of what’s wrong!
Worst comes to worse I’ve got an appointment tomorrow with a consultant. Hopefully they get back to me though!

No unfortunately I have nothing near me st all with any midwives and health visitors. My gp one is only at my GP a couple days a week. And the closest places are 30min drive away!

So went to see consultant who couldn’t be more dismissive if she tried. All she could do was tell me the baby is above average weight. Am I sure I want to have a natural birth scaring me about his/her shoulders getting stuck. Didn’t once try to comfort me as this is my first and it’s not exactly what I wanted to hear!
She didn’t even bother with the other symptoms I had and said “it’s all fine. Anyway I’ll give you a date for induction if you don’t have the baby by 40weeks”. Not great!!
