double buggy or not?

what are the thoughts of a double buggy/pram? have just found out last week i'm PG with no 2 - I'm assuming around 6 weeks ish as not 100% on dates, DB would be due around the time DS is 2 - 2.1 at most. he's walking a lot now likes to walk places, but obv also gets tired and likes to sleep in the buggy.

I would absolutly love a M&P 3 in 1 or something similar. do buggy borads work with those? realistically how much walking will a 2 year old do (i'm thinking if we go into town etc). I have a budget of approx £200. so would need to ebay it - don't like P&T's so they're out. any thoughts at all?

(i'm a reg but perm name changer after a few RL isnances. - if you recognise me please don't mention it) thanks.

will come back tomorrow this whole tired thingy is really kicking in now.

m4g - I saw those actually, I do like the look of the M&P duette. althou my heart's now swaying to a first wheels double - currently new for £345 on ebay don't think that incl's the rain muff etc but it's that idea I really like. tbh if M&P did a seat which sits on top of the pram i'd get it in a shot (like with the coach built prams). will have to be a 2nd hand one i'm afraid, after no 1 we do have most things but I want a diff pram, and obv a new cot/mattress, and the other little bits/bobs which all mount up.

kitty - the thing I don't like about P&T's is the fact the baby is underneath iycwim. still struggaling with that.

chop - jane was on my list as well! lol. but I think it's going to be the first wheels one - am going to have to stalk ebay till I find a 2nd hand one going relativly reasonally but I think i'm wishing on my budget - will have to sweet talk DH! lol.

ow82 - I agree about the Phil and Teds but most people I know with them say theres a fight to get in teh back seat. DD2 will be about 2.8yo by the time DB3 is ready for the second seat so I would put DD2 in the second seat with DB1 riding up top. DD2 will be walking a bit by then so I see it almost like having an extra wee seat at the back for when she's tired. Much prefer this than a proper double and I've had two.

This thread made me smile so much I had to reply. Am supposed to be on conception chat as TTC #3 but got distracted!

Have 21 months between my 2. Bought a P&T as thought it'd be brill. Sold it 3 months later as little one outgrew cocoon and when sitting in the behind seat was far too upright. Some people love them but not for us.

Also had a toddler seat ontop of mamas and papas ultima. Ok unless it rains and it's wrecked the suspension if I'm honest.

We ended up with a Mountain buggy. Bit of a silly price even second hand but we walk alot and I love the flat recline. Many happy walks with sleeping children!!

Now have buggy board on my single 3 wheeler as DS1 just 3 and can manage now.

Good luck everyone!

i have 24 months between mine and i managed fine with a single. dd would walk and ds would be in the pram, if she got tired i would take ds out and put him in a sling and dd would get in the pram.
dd very rarely goes in the pram now she's 3, she mainly walks everywhere, ds still goes in the sling if i need him to though.

I think it depends what your toddler is like as a walker. My DD2 is due a few days before DD1's 2nd bday and I've had to go for a double buggy. DD1 won't wear reins or hold my hand so just isn't safe walking on pavements (we've hit the terrible twos with a vengeance!)Definitely need to be able to strap her into something. My theory is that if I don't end up using it much I can always re-sell it.

I'd go for a sling myself- the ergo can carry a child from birth to age 4years very comfortably on your back or front and I'm speaking from a person with experience of a double buggy too. I'd go with the sling anytiime- it's lightweight, easy to use, if you carry the baby then they benefit fro being close to you, if you carry your toddler then they will be safe near busy roads and toddlers love being carried on your back.
