Im 38 weeks pregnant, has anyone else been diagnosed with this before or during pregnancy?

My midwives just told me l test positive for it. But it can come and go, they were reassuring me but l am still worried.

I just dont want anything to happen to my baby, its peaked my anxiety! I have other vaginal infections to deal with which adds to my worry.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had strep b years ago. So being treated as if it's present now. So this means a drip of antibiotics when waters break and they usually like to monitor baby for 12 hours and if they see any signs they will give a dose of antibiotics to the baby aswell.
It's hard because I'm very anxious about it too! So I totally understand how you feel. Rationally looking at it (I try hard but often I let my anxiety rule) I know that lots of women give birth with not even knowing strep b is present and their babies are fine.
It's just horrid actively knowing you have it!
Hope you try not to worry to much x

I had strep b.

In most cases they will give you a antibiotoc drip when you are in establishrd labour.

The drip needs to be in for minimum 2 hours. My DD was born before they could get the drip in so she had a canula inserted and had ... i think!... 4 hourly antibiotics through that for 48 hours might have been 8 hourly my memory is a bit foggy but she was absoloutly fine. Don't let it stress ypu its very common

Thanks for replying and for your reassurance! Im just super nervous about giving birth and its increased the pressure to have everything go smoothly. . . but I trust my midwifery team and consultants so hopefully all will be fine!
