7 weeks pregnant and commuting to work everyday

Hi, I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant and not sure if it's OK to be standing on my trip to work to and fro, for 1 hour each. I tried to stand for the whole trips one day and got anxious because I felt pressure in my lower tummy and my legs felt uncomfortable. Asking for a seat is always terrifying for me because my bump isn't clearly visible yet. Anyone has ever been in similar situation? I would really appreciate any information..thanks!

You don't mention that you've feel sick or tired. If you feel fine then it's OK to stand, it won't hurt the baby. If you are too sick to stand what about one of those baby on board badges.

As the PP says it's totally fine, just depends how you feel. I found i had to stand through most of my pregnancy which was hell as I was sick and often very faint but somehow you get through it - I used to make sure I had water and wiggle my way into any gaps against a wall and near a door for air. If you are in London you can get a badge which might help.

Yes it's fine.

Many occupations involve standing all day eg hairdresser, sales assistant, bar personnel, waitress, cleaner, gardener etc. Standing for an hour twice a day is fine.

It won't hurt the baby but might get increasingly uncomfortable. Are their priority seats on your train? Ask to sit in one of those if you need to. A baby on board badge usually has people offering seats if they're a thing in your area.

Standing is fine if you feel able to. I struggled to stand even for a couple of minutes in early pregnancy because the motion of the tube set off my morning sickness and I felt faint and like I'd throw up. I was scared to ask for seats too so I'd wait for the next train if it was full. At 10 weeks I caved and got a baby on board badge and have almost always been offered a seat. I didn't need one so much in the second trimester so I stood sometimes, but now I'm massive and uncomfortable and lose my balance easily, so I sit.

Standing for an hour in the first trimester shouldn't be an issue at all unless you have sickness or other health issues making you feel unsteady. In terms of physical strain, on its own it's nothing of any consequence for your body. Think of all those standing up all day jobs, people still going to the gym (and smallholders like me!) doing far more strenuous stuff, so an hour will be fine.

Hate to be blunt but you are probably going to have to get your head round it/find a solution fairly sharpish or you will be spending your entire pregnancy worrying about everything, which would be a shame!
